The one closest to me is a death trap. I just know that if fire dept. inspectors went through, they'd shut it down (in fact, I think they were there a few years ago). Boxes in the aisles; carts that can't make it down the aisles so people leave them halfway in, blocking the shelves from other customers; the "loading" carts stacked with merchandise and left in an aisle so you can't see, let alone access, stuff on the shelves.

When I eventually do pick up an item, it's rarely worth what the store is charging. It's a closeout store, but I don't think the prices reflect that.

So it's pretty much a time-waster for me, too.

I'm much more likely to find stuff at the other stores you've mentioned, or at Target or Kohls.
Sometimes when I'm desperate to find a certain item (like a patio tablecloth with a hole in the middle for the umbrella, like I was looking for not too long ago), then I stop in, just because I want to make sure I'm covering all the bases. I did get the tablecloth there, but it's still in the package--the end of summer and I haven't sat outside a single day!

Their store is not too far from me -- and it usually has very very nice linens and bedding. Their seasonal items are great too!

Ours is kind of junky. Many years ago, they used to close the store for a few months at a time, re-stock and then have a great big sale when they opened up again. I used to buy things there but haven't made a purchase in a very long time. They do have a nice linen section but their decor objects aren't that great.

The people that work at the stores I have been in are kind of rough too. They are always having smoke breaks outside the front door and look like they'd be much happier hanging out at the local bar.

I've been in lots of them and overall, prefer TJMaxx. Tuesday does seem to carry more expensive items than tj- but that could just be my area.
Still, I have bought some gorgeous things at the Tuesday Morning here. It is neat, clean, bright and very organized.
It helps immensely that it is next to my main grocery store so I often stop in there just to browse for fun.
The TJ's here are a drive- anywhere from 40 to 60 minutes away so I don't go as often.
But I still much prefer them, not just for the greater variety of items and departments but they are cheaper. The same polish pottery, for example, will be $5-$15 higher at Tuesday.

All of these stores are fun to shop in, but I would not go out of my way for any of them. They are all hit or miss and you usually cannot go in thinking you will find a specific item. Only go if it is convenient to you.

The one by me is a dump. I have never gone back. Seemed like an odd-lot, I much prefer Homegoods and TJ Maxx.

I agree...these stores are kinda dumpy, I seldom shop them anymore. I prefer HomeGoods.

I never find anything at TM and I am surprized they are still open. I won't miss them when they close. They should of gotten better stuff in there at better prices.

You need to make the drive, at least once, and see what the store offers.
Some of their stores are so-so, others are great. The two near me carry some quality stuff and I will visit after I get their newsletter announcing their restock. I've picked up some nice home decor items (much better quality than I see at HG) and I buy all my bed linens there.

I have two stores near me: one that is 15 minutes away and one about 25 minutes away. It is definitely hit or miss--much like Loehmanns is for clothing. I have found incredible buys, including the Karastan rug for our kitchen eating area and some cute Fitz & Floyd plates. I also stock up on paper guest towels whenever I go there. If I know I'm going there, I bring my "bag o' stuff" including fabric swatches and measurements so I only have to go once.

I would trade our local Tuesday Morning for a HomeGoods in a heartbeat. It isn't a mess like some of the other posters mentioned, but it is VERY hit or miss. Over the last few years, more miss than hit.

I first went into a TM many years ago. It was a dump! Like others have said, stuff in the aisles, no organization, and the stuff was covered in thick dust. I never went back in that one. A couple of months ago, after hearing of others on the 'net finding great deals DH and I stopped in a different TM, me hoping it was different than my other experience. Nope! DH could hardly wait to get out. Shelves packed with items in no sense of order, items broken etc. Everything over priced. When we got back the car DH said the place smelled like tinkle! I'll save my hard earned shopping dollars for Home Goods, Marshall's, Ross etc.

I hadnt gone to a Tuesday Morning in years. Until... I went to Harbor Freight with my DH and there was one right next door. couple of weeks ago found out that the other nearby Harbor Freight also has a TM next door. Darn if DH wasnt looking for something from HF and had to go to both stores!
Both are very nice stores with a lot of tempting items. I will be accompanying my DH on all of his HF trips!!

The difference between at TJMaxx,Homegoods etc.and Tuesday Morning is this: There are very rarely any big houseware decor bargains at the former. I define a bargain as an originally ( regular retail)expensive, quality item, i.e: meg's Karastan rug, my gorgeous Peacock Alley quilt, Italian made needlepoint pillow( years ago)or the best sheets( again, Italy) I have ever slept on. Used to be one could find amazing out-of-the-blue deals at Marshall's. Nowadays, all looks to me like it was made for the discount market. TM, too, but slightly more opportunity there than at TJ's, etc. Most TM.s are not as nice(many are dumps), but offer better chance of a treasure, though still rare.
I find good bargains in shoes at Marshalls( Uggs, Merrells, etc). Wish for the same in home decor, but never see it any more. I rarely even bother looking at the sheets at HG. Bottom line opinion: I would not go much out of my way ( 20 minute drive) to shop at TM.

Our local Tuesday Morning reminds me of an indoor flea market. It even smells damp! I gave it a second chance but there won't be a third!

I've only been to ours twice and it's clean and pretty organized. I agree you should check it out once. They have different selection of stuff which is nice. I do think some of it is more expensive. I wish ours had more rugs.

TM near me and there are several are yuck. I only stop in at Christmas for wrapping paper and ribbons and that is only if I am at that end of town. They used to have unusual better things but the last few years have been really, really sketchy. Yes, they are messy and cluttered here too. I think my taste has gotten a little more picky too because it all starts looking like the same junk to me. Plus I look at dishware and if it says CHINA on it then it is a no for me. I think the economy has so much to do with it. TJ and Marshall's had linens that I liked and I would go store to store trying to put it all together. Now I don't even look. If someone said lets go to Tuesday Morning I would say no and not be thinking they are going to find something I want!
At least the last few years. I like having a few good things around me, more the attitude of less is more. Not a lot of junkity junk. So I hope it changes because I do like to shop.

Ours is where Big Lots stuff go to die. It's so overpriced and the stuff is absolute junk. I've never seen anything there of quality, it's all made n China or as shown on TV garbage.

There's a Tuesday Morning near me and I'm on their mailing list. The secret is to go when they first reopen for the good deals. I got a framed picture there that I really like a lot, it's signed and numbered and framed very well. I also found a floor lamp once that was a decent value.

I've been very underimpressed by Tuesday Morning. Occasionally their flyer shows something great, and when I stop by - "Oh our store didn't get those." I've always thought they were very overpriced.

I've never found a "treasure" there.

The stores have been overcrowded, and smelly. Maybe there are nice ones out there somewhere, but I'm in casual driving distance to three and they are all about equal.

Our TM is very disappointing. The store is messy and generally very poorly presented. Many of the items are not of a style that I have in my home, and some even appear damaged. Although, our Home Goods store isn't spectacular either. I wish there were more places to shop in person for home decor in my area.

They vary greatly location to location. I've picked up a couple of nice rugs there over the years. And I got a Little Giant ladder at a very nice price last year...

TM recently had Peacock Alley sheet sets- but I passed on them since I didnt really need them.( what the heck was I thinging?)

Rugs are about the only thing I buy there.

Ours is close and pretty stocked up on everything. I get my gift bags and fancy paper products there. Once I found a pair of cashmere socks that I just had to have. I agree with everyone else about the stuff at Marshalls and TJ's. It's not quality stuff anymore. Maybe just the shoes.

I was just thinking the other day...boy do I miss GEMCO. You could buy a pair of panty hose in one aisle, lettuce in another and only a few feet away...a Whirlpool dishwasher and nab the latest Pink Floyd album to finish off your cart. I like that one-stop shopping and the prices were good too!!!

Sheets, towels and linens -- I rarely go anywhere else for those. Peacock Alley sheet sets for $29, Frette pillowcases, SVera (how tdo you spell that?) My last score was a gorgeous $550 retail (who'd pay that?!) silk charmuesse quilt for $59.

Occasionally great deals on crystal and glassware, kitchen items, odds & ends.

But absolutely hit or miss, and some stores are *much, much* better than others. I'll drive past one to get to the good one...

TM is about 75 minutes away, I always check out their drapery panels, they usually have 96" and 108" L which are hard to find elsewhere. I really like my 96 " lined/interlined brown silk panels I bought for $50 each. Their rod prices are good too.

It is hit or miss, but I check it out every week or so.
My most frequent purchases are:
fringe and tassles for drapery/table cloth/pillow/chair cushion making
the odd beautiful piece of glassware or china
kitchen utensils
small to medium sized rugs
holiday items including inexpensive but nice Christmas cards
paper plates and napkins....lots of choices and very reasonably priced
the odd picture frame or book
children's toys/books/craft items and occasionally a wiglet sized item of clothing
wonderfully scented soaps/lotions/potions

I used to like TM a lot more than I do now. I did go there the other day looking for rugs and was disappointed that the corners of all were dragging the floor and filthy. I didn't bother to look further. And this store is other wise really clean.

I had never been to a TM but saw an add a few years ago on HGTV so I went on-line to see what it was about. I ended up signing up for some on-line mailing list and occasionally received specials on=line.

I was looking for new bedding and a pretty DKNY set popped up in the mailing so I purchased it. It definitely is not the best quality, ( i had seen the set in the bigger stores a few months back) but for what I paid for it (I think i paid less than $200 for a king comforter two pillow shams and a bed skirt.) I didn't care.

About a year ago i realized there was a store near me and i had been dying to go b/c of my previous purchase. When i went and walked in i stayed about 2 sec. and walked out. It was so disgusting and TOTALLY not what I had expected at all.

I still get the occasional sale promo on-line and occasionally look at it, but I will never go into the store again.

So i guess the moral of the story is if you see something on-line you like at TM purchase it there. The shipping fee i worth the cost of not dealing with going to the store..
