This is a "before" picture. We just replaced all the windows in the house and kept them terratone (dusty brown) color on the outside. The before color of the house is a light khaki. We're looking to stay in the khaki/beige range, and will paint the facade a slightly warmer beige shade called "Balanced Beige" (Benjamin Moore). For the trim, we are going for a brown that matches the terratone windows - "Griffin" (BM), and this trim will go in thicker (3 inch) bands around each of the front windows, around the garage door, and on the fascia and cornerboards. Gutter/downspouts will also be that darker brown shade.

The house is all very neutral - the front steps and walkway have just been redone in a nice stone with brown and gray tones. The old bushes and front tree have been pulled out and will be replaced by a nice contoured garden. My question for you color experts out there is whether it's okay to go with the darker trim, expanding on the actual window color? The house has a flat and uninteresting facade, and although the front door/sidelights is an asset, we want to have some other accents without going crazy and criss-crossy with trim paint. I'm worried that our plan may look like too much dark accent framing the windows such that we create a "raccoon eyes" look on the front of the house (over the garage). Hard to imagine "just enough" accent. What would you do?
