I received mine today, too--first time getting one (didn't request it), and they also sent the 150 page one for small spaces and the 300 page one for baby & child! Wow, good thing DH brought in the mail today--not sure I could have carried the pkg all the way home.

I'm sorry but I just have to say about p 107, that "the emperor has no clothes!"...or "the chair is just not attractive without the rest of the upholstery!"--pretty much the same thing IMHO. I guess I'm just hopelessly not on trend and much prefer My3dog's finished products--though I have to agree the RH ones look like much less work!

You'll never have to worry about not ordering enough fabric ... when you run out, consider the job finished! If I saw one at a house (without having seen the catalog) I would think the owners had really naughty cats and/or dogs.

All of the chairs I have done, while not that style, look similar as I strip the fabric off. I'd LOVE to know how much of that line they've sold. I just can't imagine it would be many, to main stream America.

The last catalog debuted that deconstructed look. That's when I ripped off all the sides and backs from my furniture.

I moved and there is no way the post office will forward the catalog I'm sure. In fact --I'm sure the mail carrier at the old house knew we moved and refused to even deliver it to "or current resident". So, I"m safe.

How do you get a catalog and how much is it? Love the leather furniture, it has just the amount of "used" look I love.

Catalogs just appear in the mailboxes of people who don't want them! Cost is hard to detemine due to all the environmental waste ... how many trees for the paper ... cost for recycling, etc. ;-)

Schoolhouse--I think my three catalogs came unsolicited since I've recently ordered sample swatches for curtains and upholstery items--I was considering an English roll arm sofa from RH (got a Baker instead), and now am considering their linen curtains. I'm not on their email list or anything else. Catalogs are free and accompanied by a sheet saying they're made from recycled products.

Do tell! I was wondering why I hadn't received one of their catalogs lately and now I really don't care.

So, raise your hands please! How many of you actually want this catalog?

Seriously, mine came today and I plopped it in the recycle bin at the edge of the driveway. It never made it to the front door. It's all online, no? I don't know why they send it to me. The prices are too outrageous for my budget!

Mine arrived last week. It's still sitting in it's wrapper on the love seat. Haven't decided whether or not to even look through it. Saw the deconstructed furniture in the last one they sent and that one went promptly into the recycle bin. I've never ordered anything from them. I occasionally order from PB or WS so that's probably how I ended up on their mailing list. Don't you just love it when people sell your name and address??? NOT!

I order from WS so that's probably why I got mine yesterday. Pity the poor postman.

Just log on and you can unsubscribe to the catalog..takes about 1 minute. I did it a while back as it is a waste of resources to print and mail such a monstrosity !! Please take a minute and stop it from coming..recycle is fine now but prevention is better :) c

I received it. Don't want it. It seems like such a waste. Also, it isn't my style. I don't like this "new" Restoration Hardware.

I don't understand how they can showcase a Sears Christmas Catalog ( now, I drooled over that!) sized book with nary a color except the rare blue gray or green. Really, some of the furniture is gorgeous but the lack of color throughout makes me not want to enjoy flipping pages.

The PB catalogs, which if broken down, don't have near the individual excitement of the individual items in RH yet, the colors and layout make me eager to at least look at it.

While drab and'neutral, I love the RH style of furniture, EXCEPT, that deconstructed 'stuff''(m'dux, why*did* I ever recommend it for your little cottage?!!). I find it so much more appealing than PB since their style has been duplicated by every low budget store around. It's rustic, but at the same time, elegant and somewhat classic.

As for the 'drab and neutral', pick a color, any color to weave in with it, and I bet it would take on a life of it's own. If I were to choose new, it would be RH, hands down, but I would definitely have to budget for it.

Prices are crazy. I haven't bought anything at RH is years except for a deal I got at the outlet last week, lamp shades, $5 each.

I guess I am the lone person on this forum that enjoys looking at this catalogue. I don't have to agree with everything in it to find inspiration from some of the things. If you don't want to receive it just do as trail runner suggested.

agreed agreed... I got one and wound up tossing it. IMO I think their marketing team leader needs a large smack upside the head. Get real, you won't sell what we can find in the nearest dumpster - "deconstructed" for free.

I'm a bit sad about where RH is going with their store - I used to love shopping there. Now it seems they have such a narrow market. If you don't own a huge home (their pieces are quite large) that the Belgian/linen/burlap/lack of color looks nice in, there's no other furniture choices to buy from them.

I do like their bathroom faucets/lighting fixtures. I do wish they'd spend a little bit of time updating their window treatment options. I shouldn't say that as I did notice they added a few raw, unlined linen/burlap drapes. Just what I wanted!

The deconstructed stuff appeals to me more than the rest of it. RH sent me a questionnaire some time ago; it asked me for my frank opinion of the catalog and I panned it, in somewhat poetic terms, I thought. They quit sending the catalog, which was fine with me. Sorry, but every time that I have wandered into an RH store within the past few years, I have been struck by the poor quality of their furnishings. It's as though they go out of their way to come up with pieces that photograph well, but, in reality, just are not good furniture.

Maybe they felt it was more financially feasable to make such a big catalog since they were saving on colored ink. They sure love black and white and the shades in between.

I don't like the deconstructed look but I do like many of the RH pieces and love their bath hardware. I don't read catalogs so that's a waste and I discontinued them, although PB sends me so many catalogs throughout the year I think it must use much more paper than RH overall.

Delivering the constant influx of Restoration Hardware & Pottery Barn catalogs must be what keeps the postal service afloat.

Vickij, no, you aren't the only one. I enjoy the catalog, and this year, I thought some of the things in the baby and child were lovely. Many of the chests of drawers in that catalog would be very nice in smaller spaces, and not only for children's rooms. I also loved the pale whispers of color.

My complaint is that most of their things (and this was true before the Axel Vervoort virus took hold) are so instantly recognizable that they might as well put brass RH plates on the front of everything.

But some of the aesthetic appeals to me. Probably because I was a fan of Belgian design before versions of it began cropping up everywhere. Traditionally, it has the elegance of French design with more texture and less formality.

I couldn't sleep last night and all was quiet. I thought I would browse through their catalog as I did not do so yet. We have 2 very old lawn chairs that we use in garage. Sometimes I will drag one out if DH working out there and sit and talk to him. Here I am at 4am and I guess the added weight of the RH book collapsed my chair. I weight about 108lbs and here I am in the middle of the night, on the garage floor, laughing and thinking about the posts the last time that everyone was complaining about. LOL! I always look at the book sooner or later and I have ordered lighting and hardware from them. No wonder everything is so expensive. Somebody has to pay for those books!

I haven't received mine yet. I wonder where it is. maybe they read my last post about their catalogue and decided to stop sending it. I have only bought bedside table lamps from them and the switch broke within 2 years on both of them. For the price of them that shouldn't have happened.

I started flipping through the online version right this very minute. I expected to get seriously annoyed by all the ugliness and pretension. Instead, I got too bored by around page 23 to continue. So that's progress! Right? ;)

RH's business model has dramatically changed in the last 2-3 years. They closed all the retail RH stores near me and only have one "showroom" in LA, and you can't buy anything there -- even if you are at the store, you have to order it and have it shipped to you. So the cost they are saving in having the overhead for retail stores/inventory is the cost they are putting into this ridiculous monstrosity of a catalog with expensive, glossy paper and choking-the-environment plastic wrappers that went straight into my recycle bin.

Pip, the one in Pasadena is still there, on Colorado. They have basic inventory you can buy. The sales people are very friendly, but it is so depressing to walk around the dreary store.

The sent us two catalogs. Two.

As if that weren't wasting enough money, the chain is also developing a gigantic, multi-story, multi-million dollar showroom on Newbury Street in Boston in an exquisite old building with its own French gardens. Serious, serious bucks being spent.

At the same time, the company is getting ready to go public again.

I think management is literally insane.

It's not just that they are too stupid to household their lists, thus accidentally doubling the already enormous cost of their bible mailing. But they also just fired their CEO for diddling his staff, yet kept him on the catalog cover. And they're already backpedaling from his "vision" (more like a migrain aura), by introducing a new catalog of much smaller furniture with no clawmarks in sight--meaning, the RH style already is going out of style at RH.

So, I tore it open last night....btw--I have only purchased a couple of cans of paint samples from them.

When talking to the sales clerk, she commented about a new CEO "with great vision". Who know how much things will change, or how little, but if a move has been made to an expensive location, I hope it's not reflected in their pricing. As it is, they're on the pricey side, and if the lights wouldn't have been on sale, wouldn't have purchased them. ;o)

I think there are some very nice elements in the RH catalog, but everything combined is so drab that I fell asleep thumbing through the catalog last night!

It's an excellent cure for insomnia, and a nice weapon to use against any potential intruders, so you might want to keep it on your nightstand. :)

I emailed them to tell me to take me off the mailing list. The standard reply was "okay, but be aware if can take 3-4 months".

I wrote them and told them that was nonsense and that people are angry about getting 700 pg catalogues. It actually started me on a tear calling all those @$#%$%^ catalogues. I think I may have grounds for a suit; where i live, it costs me money to throw this krap away.

No, it's not nonsense. That's how long it takes.

But you're right about the catalogues. I can't even imagine what their list attrition must be like. Who actually wants such a thing? Normally, people like receiving catalogues and even complain when they get kicked off the list. I've never seen one that actually made people angry before.
