fyi: sw colors blonde strip colors, plus romaine, aleutian (px)

I'm posting these for those of you who might be interested in seeing the following Sherwin Williams colors: Blonde, Restrained Gold, Mannered Gold, Ivoire. These are all from the same SW strip. The blues are Aleutian and Upward. The greens are Romaine and Lace Wing. Hope this helps someone.

This is Mannered Gold with Flyaway Blue on the tray ceiling for the sky. Surrounding the door is Ivoire.

Aleutian (SW Blue)

Upward (SW Blue, two shades lighter than Aleutian)

Romaine (SW Green)

Lace Wing (SW Green, one shade lighter than Romaine)

This is Blonde looking into my LR painted Restrained Gold

This room is entirely Blonde with the exception of the wall in the middle. It is done in Ivoire.

Thanks for posting. It always helps to see paint colors on the wall as oposed to those little samples.

Southernfrenchie - Thank you! Very pretty space and those curtains look wonderful with that paint! I finally went to Lowes yesterday and grabbed paint cards of: LA Russet 6 LA Summer Pudding Waverly Tomato Red Waverly Cinnabar Eddie Bauer Crimson Glidden Terra Cotta Rose. I grabbed a few actual samples from comparing my BM paint cards and going by what I knew of the colors. Ha, when I got home I realized I grabbed such similar colors it's not even funny. Waverly Tomato Red looks like BM Burnt Peanut Red and similar to Raspberry Truffle. Glidden Terra Cotta Rose looks like the color name and is similar to BM Tucson Red. The color would work but it's not how I'm picturing the room. LA Russet 6 is a nice color. Similar to Currant Red. The other names above, the cards look very similar to ones I already have. I'm finally at my point of walking away for now. In the end I'll probably end up going with MR or CR. And just for giggles.. MR top, LA Russet 6 middle, CR bottom.

I'm sorry, but I have to say I don't like the navy (or the camel). The rug color is more a royal blue, i.e.: a warm blue and the navy is a whole other blue, and IMO, they clash. I also, again, think it is just too much saturation of blue. Like NSM's chandy and think it would look great in your dining alcove. I do think you should paint those French doors the same color as the trim, regardless of what color you paint the walls. If you go with the chocolate brown, consider painting the chairs silver. If you go with a light color, I'd paint them black. The silver will compliment the glass top, and the black will go with the base. Btw, it is sounding to me like you have made up your mind and that you really want to do it in the Midsummer Night. It's not a lot of wall area, so you're not investing a whole lot in paint here. You can paint it in the color you want, get it all set up with the new chandy, painted chairs, artwork, live with it for a month (or some agreed-upon time limit) and if your husband (or you, for that matter) still really doesn't like it, you can always repaint it.

I used colors from the SW Blonde strip as well. My LR and office (note connected) are both Restrained Gold, my DR, which flows off my LR, is Mannered Gold, my Kitchen, FR and Media room are all Blonde. Hallways and Guest room are Ivoire. Where I veered from this color strip was my daughters BR--Romaine, with the bathroom Lace Wing (one shade lighter than Romaine). Our MBR is Aleutian, with the bathroom two shades lighter--Onward. AND, in the DR that is Mannered Gold, we have a tray ceiling. I did the top tray in a beautiful blue called Flyaway and sponged clouds. It's a gorgeous contrast to the dark Mannered Gold. I plan on doing details of cloud shadows using Blonde and Restrained Gold, along with some gray tones and bright white. I love the way the rooms flow from one another. They feel so connected and "right". And as someone else mentioned, these colors are so different depending on the level of sun. It's always such a nice surprise to see what the rooms look like at different times of the day (new home build so we don't live there yet). I also don't have any furniture set up, but that will be the easy part, I think. We have a furniture store here that does the same thing as Ethan Allen, where the salesperson also has a degree in Interior Design and will help coordinate pieces. I plan on using that service when the time comes.

It's Zuider Zee blue (scroll down) from FPE. It's the light Delft/Federal blue. I'd seen it on doors in Boston. I used it first as an accent color on the screen door (below). This door has been outside for a year and looks brand new. It has inserts so I spent a long time with them in the basement last winter. The trim around the screen door looks a bit flatter as it hasn't yet been done with the FPE white. The high gloss is what I wanted for all the doors and was well worth bothering with the oil-base. The water based exterior paint was mildewed and the wood was bleeding through it. No priming, just roughing the surface and 2 coats of the oil-base. Didn't buy the door kit -- just 1 pint of white, 1 blue and their thinner -- I have enough left over to do the back door as well (next spring). (Painter did the front door as it had to come off the hinges.) On the screendoor pic below -- if the inside door was the blue do you think it would make the outside white and blue pop or should I keep the inside white as well? (The paint on the screendoor looks green but it is exactly the same as the front door! Which tells us something about photos). Trust I'm not hijacking this thread -- I believe the OP had the info she wanted.

Patricia, The funny thing is I have no idea what I'm doing. Really. While building this I determined I wasn't going to do white or antique white walls--I've had enough of that over the years. But how, I asked myself, do I choose colors and make things flow? Well, I decided to use all the colors on the same strip. Ha! I don't know if it will work with my furniture, but decided one of the perks of buying new furniture is I can make it match, right?

It'll be a lot of fun choosing furniture and accessories and I'll be counting on GW HD to help me out.

And I'm glad, msrose, that seeing the colors on my walls helps you. That was my goal.

Thank you for posting these pics w/ the color names. I love looking at color. Did you by any chance post them in the gallery threads under specific colors? I know that would help a lot of people. Just a thought!

Not to hijack the thread but I am pretty much doing the same thing. I am using the same strip and will post when done. I used SW Chamois for my DR and will be using RG for the main public areas in the house including the GR. I am seriously considering using RB as an accent wall for the fireplace. I will keep everyone posted.

I did alot of the same colors too. I would love to see the chamois if it wouldn't be too much trouble to post a pic. I used "Mannered gold " in the bedroom recently & love it. We were thinking of repainting the FR with a painter later since the ceiling is 22 ft in there since we loved the mannered gold so much. We were thinking of even going darker in the FR with the chamois. Here is the mannered gold in the bedroom for anyone who needs to see that color.

Beautiful colors. With that green color, use black -- whether a toile or a stripe. Looks beautiful together. see bythebluff.com (Kerry Room)

Well, it looks to me like you know what you are doing and maybe don't even know it. :) You have a good eye for color.

Thanks Deborahnj! Your DR is smashing in the chamois! I was scared it might be too dark , but your DR doesn't look dark at all. That helped alot.......thanks again!

Thanks for that vote of confidence, Patricia. I guess picking colors in the same family (strip) is a no-brainer, but it's also safe. I so admire those who can coordinate textures and colors and be daring, managing the whole way to make things come together and be breathtaking. I hope with GW backing me I can make my new home have the WOW factor.

Green with black would be awesome. . .unfortunately it's my daughters room. The color matches the Tommy Hilfiger comforter she chose. It's quite lovely with all its vibrant colors.

I did a google search for restrained gold Sherwin Williams, and found this thread. My contractor talked me into this color for my kitchen, and I am a bit nervous. I am happy to see how nice it looks in your home. Thanks for posting!
