Do I need to run Clean Machine cycle regularly?
Comments (98)Stumbled across this item while surfing this morning. Just as so many laundry mavens here are pulling their hair out about sudsing problems, here's the latest feature from Samsung....copied/pasted from their site.....the site that advertises on this forum.....on this thread: "PowerFoam Technology for foam you can see, clean you can feel PowerFoam is an exclusive Samsung technology that creates a deep-cleaning foam thats gentle on fabrics. PowerFoam washers fill the drum with foam created from HE detergent, water, and air during the wash cycle. Foam penetrates fabrics more deeply, thoroughly and up to 40 times faster* than detergent in conventional washers so you can confidently wash large and bulky loads like king-size comforters. *Based on tests using AHAM HLW-I-2007 detergent standards." Comments (16)I worked for a dry cleaner for several years in my (sort of) misspent youth. I worked in the alterations department and I also learned to press which meant I spent a lot of time "out back" with the dry cleaner and the spotter. I learned a TON about fabric care and when I no longer worked that job (and no longer received free dry cleaning!) I began learning how to properly launder things, by reading old sewing and Home Economics books I picked up at yard sales. "Dry clean only" is the safety net for manufacturers. If they slap that label on something they're protected from liability. Consider that both sheep and geese routinely get wet. ;) Cold water and a dilute solution of my favorite laundry detergent is how I wash things like comforters. I will take them to a laundromat to use the extractor to really get remaining water out of them and use their dryers (I don't have a dryer). I routinely wash our feather pillows by first soaking them with the garden hose (this keeps them from floating in the washer). I put them in the washing machine with a cup of ammonia and run the cycle. I rinse them twice. Ammonia cuts grease (and everyone's hair is oily and sometimes we sweat while we're in bed). I take them to the laundromat and "extract" them and then dry them, finishing with a full day in the sunshine on top of the car, turning every couple of hours. They look nearly brand new when I'm done. They're now nearly 15 yrs. old, too. I use ammonia a lot actually; esp. for woolens. I use it for hats, socks, mittens (I rinse carefully and add a capful of lanolin to the final rinse to add water repellency and promote elasticity in the wool fibres). I block and dry them flat or, in the case of socks, on stretchers....See Morebrand new home w/ electrical dimming throughout - help!
Comments (45)Bus driver... I only posted again because someone else posted and asked me if the situation had been resolved as they are having a similar issue. I'm not here just to whine or complain but in hopes that someone else might be helped too. I did actually post and say that I purchased the voltmeter you recommended and observed some readings, but I did not notice any fluctuations (got tired of looking at a voltmeter when I really don't know what's going on with it) and eventually went to the head general contractor who built our home and told him that we need to get a second opinion on the matter. I hired him to build our home and take care of this kind of stuff and I don't feel I should be the one sitting around trying to figure out what's wrong. So he started getting actively involved and is now taking care of the situation. I was just posting an update and thought I'd show the videos that I took for him as well in case it helped clarify if the other person is having the same problems. I do appreciate the help I've received here and I'm sorry that my multiple posts have bothered you. Feel free to click the "no longer receive notifications" button and you won't be bothered any longer....See MoreTime to buy a new washing machine
Comments (39)luna , Following the various Miele owners on this board actually deterred me from even considering one. There have been lots of issues that owners report they had trouble getting resolved. Right now there is a post about that. And , I didn't want one that small . I want to be able to wash larger size quilt type items. Had I considered a compact, I probably would have just gone back with Bosch. I had 14 years with no service calls on it. Boba, yes, I've been checking temps that way. I"m beginning to wonder if by using so many long cycles to get the temperature up that it isn't going to be very energy efficient. What year did you buy your duet? My daughter bought one about the same time as I bought my Bosch , 2008 and she had a major problem 2 years later which at first they refused to cover until she posted about it and then they contacted her and covered it. As I remember , it was about a $600 dollar repair but I don't remember the specifics. She had 2 kids playing sports, as well as a husband playing soccer, so it got heavy duty use. She had another issue with it a few years later, just now I put in a mattress cover on the bedding cycle. I added steam, so then I couldn't change any of the settings. It got to 63C in 15 minutes and then the temp quickly dropped to 40C....See Morepharkus
