I married a man 8 1/2 years ago that has five children from two different women. I have had no problems with his sons and have a good relationship with them however, I have and continue to have problems with the 3 daughters. When I am doing for the girls, I am ok to talk to but when I say no or stand up for myself I am a horrible person. Over the summer, I received blame for something I had nothing to do with and the girls have been angry with me ever since as well as their mom. The girls have told their father that I am not welcome to attend any of their events, school, band, whatever but he was welcome to. A bit of history - From the start of our relationship, we have always done things together, if the children needed or wanted something, we did it together. We have never caved into them expecting that Dad does fun things with them and only with them without me. I have been included since my husband has wanted me to be a part of his life and his children were his life so therefore I was included. This bothers the ex to no end and continues to do so. Now, with the girls being 15, 17, and 20, they have told their father they want nothing to do with me and will not put their feelings aside for a two hour dinner at a public place so that we can give them their Christmas gifts. My husband is in a quandry, if he gives in to the girls, then everything he has been telling them the past 8 1/2 years means nothing, but he if he doesn't give in, then he no longer loves them and has chosen me over his daughters which is not the case (The girls perspective). Anyone been in a situation like this, if so, how did you resolve it? Any suggestions would be great.
