I have been scouring the internet for an answer to this very question. I have canned for a number of years but only got into canning meats with a pressure canner for 2 years now. After Thanksgiving I decided to can turkey broth. I also followed Ball Book exactly. I had never experienced all that pinging before! I caught a sale on chicken quarters, canned the meat with no problem and then canned the broth with all that pinging again! Might it have something to do with canning liquids only? The seals are all good but are the contents safe? The only answer I found was one lady who said she leaves her broth sit in the canner for at least an hour after the pressure has fallen before she removes the lid and that solved her ping problem. I have not used any of my canned broth yet since I was searching for an answer as to whether or not it was safe. I will try leaving it sit for an hour the next time.

as for the husband thing...oh we talk, and we talk, and we talk...and we always try to stand united and hes all with it, until it starts happening, then he falters from the unity that we discussed. its very frustrating for me. Oh, and I did mention to hubby that things would have to change when she came back, and he said oh yeah? like what? and i was absoilutely blown away that he was being that insensitive and naive after all our "talks" so i told him again, and he was like, ok, we'll see what happens. UGH!!!! As far as her moving back, thats what one of my top issues are...she is being taught that anytime she isnt happy, she can just "start over" just because SHE isnt happy, because you know the world revolves around her..and i tried to point that out this weekend, and he told me in so many words that i was being hateful. i have tried talking to her on numerous occasions, and i get lied to my face, eye rolls (which i FULLY understand some of that is her age, because i remember doing it to my own parents too)but she has become just an overall miserable, unhappy person who feeds off of making our home life just as miserable, and that is what i fear will happen again. she constantly wants and wants and takes and takes from us, financially and emotionally. it made me NEVER want to come home after work, because i didnt want to deal with her and her ever changing "self-induced issues" and i know thats how it will be again, just judging on her visits with us. i feel like i am at a fork in the road..I just dont think i really want to live with all this uneccessary stress, yet how much more can i work on it?

I didn't go with cherry after all, I went with hickory for its beauty and durability. I don't think I'll miss cherry because I've had it in my last two kitchens, besides, the grain of the hickory is subtle yet evident. I like that. The bang-up marks you see on this door are from me wacking it *hard* with my daughters wheelchair foot plate. :) I'd rather know how a wood will handle her footplates *before* I place my order. This hickory, as you can see, took it quite well, all things considered. :) The Maple didn't survive as nicely, and cherry would have done just as poorly or worse, being that it's the softest of the three choices. I am coupling this cab door with a black island! Ah! I'm excited about that and glad this decision, at least, hasn't changed. I'll be sure to post pics of the kitchen when it is complete but wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone for helping me as I ping-ponged on cab colors. And NOW, with switching from cherry to hickory, I'm wondering if I should change floor color. Original pick when I was considering cherry was gunstock (second row far right sample). Do you think that is still a safe choice? As always, a huge thanks!

As Arialvetica wrote above, I use a charrette approach. For local design all conceptualizing is done in a face to face design session with the client an integral part of the process. It minimizes the '"back and forth," meaning your architect showed you a plan, you proposed changes, he/she modified it, you asked for more changes, the architect chaned it again". I can float an idea and draw it up and get owner reaction right there in lieu of guessing and involving possible "back to the drawing board" stuff. No spectators are allowed because everyone is an active participant.
