small white eggs bursting forth from tree trunk
Comments (5)This is probably a silly question, but is there any way cicadas could have had access to your tree recently? That sounds eerily like cicadas to me. They're equipped with an odd slicing apparatus, which they use to cut slits into twigs and branches (a thin tree trunk like you describe is a prime target), into which they deposit their tiny, white, pencil-like eggs. I wish you did have a photo, because then I could say without a doubt whether it's cicadas or not. Follow the link here and you'll see what I mean. The bark has been scraped away by the photographer so you can see the eggs/slits better. Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreI've been running back and forth to the Hospital

Comments (5)a simple fecal analysis very likely would NOT show giardia, it takes a special test. it's extremely difficult to detect. is there mucous and/or blood in the stool? coccidia is another possibility and that *could* show up in a fecal exam. your sister's dog could have brought something like giardia into the mix. if so, a 5-7 day round of metronidazole (not sure about the spelling) would clear it up but you'll have to be diligent about cleaning up the poo so they don't continue to be re-infected. my female corgi just finished a round of meds. she has flare ups of coccidia once or twice a year. it is never completely gone but lies dormant for months at a time. i am positive she picked it up at my former groomer's place. she takes in dogs from rescue so there are constantly strays in and out and i don't know if she has the time or inclination to completely sanitize her kennels. i would definitely see your vet before the weekend. dehydration is a worry if the diarrhea lasts more than a day or two. good luck!...See MoreThoughts on moving plants back and forth
Comments (3)of course you can do that. just don't put the plant from a very dark spot to an ultra light one in the sun. but just brighter light is totally ok. oh, and the spider plant can grow practically in darkness, will just get softer paler leaves. it is like a tomb dweller ;). it won't' flourish, but it won't die either. i move my plants like this all the time due to changing light conditions thru the seasons. one thing to keep in mind though - if some of them have pests that you are not aware of - they can spread them to other plants faster this way. so keep a close eye on them....See Moredigdirt2
