Ceph, the almost bride!

Well friend ~ I'm guessing we aren't going to be hearing from you for the next couple days! Just in case you happen to check in before the big day, I just wanted to wish you the very best. You will be beautiful and it will be a truly wonderful day, I know it. Enjoy every moment, and EAT EAT EAT. :-)

And sleep in! Years ago we went to a wedding where the bride's mother had her daughter up at like 4am getting ready (wedding was at 3pm as I recall) and the poor girl fainted early on in the reception and was never seen again :-(
Don't stress the details (though I'm sure you won't) - you'll only remember in the long run if you had a good day or not - so have a great one!

I'm sure you'll roll with the punches, but the one thing my dad told me over & over just before my wedding... 'just remember that anything that goes ~wrong~ probably won't be noticed by anyone but you... so relax and enjoy your day' and he was so right. We walked into the reception and right away I noticed the cake topper was not on top of the cake. My new husband ran to get it (ha, since he actually set up our cake & was supposed to put it on there) Nobody else even noticed it.

Just have fun!!! You'll be gorgeous!

Hi & greetings to all! - BB update ... It's been ages, it seems - 'been wishing to tell about my BB that is most delightful!!! :-) She continued to mature to the powdery light blue as I originally posted and kept her in her original Monrovia 5gal pot inside a huge container surrounded with mulch, as I studied her chosen site for sun exposure. After mid Aug. I went ahead and set her in - in a matter of few days she proceeded her surge for more new buds, as the maturer earlier ones went thru their color changes ... amazingly delightful ... not a BB color of a young bride (more like a maturer bride) mauvish pinks and the earliest original blossoms were turning to lighter but merlot-ish color!!! Now that the sun has slowly gone to his Fall angle the site's sun exposure has changed a bit but BB seems to adjust OK. Hopefully her 2nd season will be as productive ... I'll perhaps, protect her some, as I did ES and F&E on their 1st season, to try and save some of her sumptuous woods! I'm in the process of relocating one of my F&E to a slightly sunnier AM exposure - the other 0ne gave me 2 huge blooms and this one just nice foliage and healthy woods. Another aquisition this year is a new "Midnight Duchess" a Royal Majestics H series, a lacecap (no blossoms to report yet) and true to claim her distinctive purple black wood with glossy dark green foliage were impressive, 'can't wait for jury's verdict on bloosoms ... grew healthy since planting in end of June. I know that Ego45(in another thread) has a young one too ... eager to here from. Thanks!

I would review the look of the BB Blooms to confirm that you like them. Some people see the pictures and get blooms that are slightly off from the pictures. The only person I recall who had one in complete shade was razorback33. You may want to send him a GW Mail if he is set up for that.

Appropriate for bridal shower at the mother of the bride's house?

Perhaps the difference between "couple shower" and "couples shower" is a matter of the ear.....they sound very much the same.....actually it's a lot more difficult to say "couples shower"....so the error was likely mine. And also men are invited....both men who are part of a "couple" and single men friends....with or without a date. Anyhow I think it's a lovely custom....the party given fro my daughter at a friends house on a lovely summer evening, featured jugs of wine set in ice filled copper boilers around the yard and the deck, and similar onef filled with beer. Dinner was a chicken casserole...probably a salad and rolls....don't remember dessert but if I know the friends who gave the shower, probably wedding cake. There were about 80 people invited and each couple was asked to contribute a small amount and the hostesses bought a lovely Wallace silver coffee service. tray coffee pot, tea pot, cream and sugar. It sits on my daughter's buffet server and is used for Christmas Easter, Birthdays and other occasions I am sure. I don't know how the custom got started but it's been the custom among my circle of friends. I have given several, one time it was a back yard hamburger cook out and the gift was a very nice grill, another time it was a fancy cocktail buffet for 80 people ( my house was bursting!) and the gift was the bride's china...not all of it but a couple of place settings of Lenox, another time we did a garden party with oven fried chicken potato salad, beans slaw and strawberry shortcake and the gift was a piece of antique oak furniture. All the parties were given by 2 ior 3 couples and we did all the cooking. We had lots of fun! Linda C

Dear Ceph,

I hope for you a long lifetime with the man that you have chosen to be your husband. May he always watch over you and make your feel as though you are the most important woman on earth to him. May your life be filled with wondrous moments of romance, understanding, sharing and excitement for life together. May he always remember what makes you smile, what makes you laugh and what makes you cry. I pray that the home that you make together will always feel like the safest place on earth and may you always make your way their, together.

I pray that life's challenges will seem less difficult because you share them with each other. I pray that your life together will be like traveling down a brand new highway and not like taking the back roads after a hard rain.

I'll pass on the advice my dad gave me "Don't forget to do things just for you and DH... dont forget the little excursions...they are the ones you remember the most"
