Utilizing two doorbell chimes that require diodes with 1 button

I have not ran across this particular situation. A customer wanted their doorbell changed to a new one that plays recorded chimes. A diode had to be placed on the front door button. The bell would then play over and over again. A run of wire parallels from the bell to an additional bell in the finished basement. When this is disconnected, the bell plays as it should. Would purchasing the same bell that was installed in the upstairs, and installing it in the basement in parallel, solve the problem? Or is there a configuration that would allow a second bell to be used in the basement that will not make the bells play over and over?

Appreciate your help!
