Two tone cabinet, two tone pulls?
Comments (2)Even though you have a polished chrome faucet, the cabinet hardware does not have to match it. Your appliances are probably not polished chrome either. Depending on the style of the kitchen, you could go with brushed stainless, satin nickel, or maybe one of the antique or weathered finishes on both types of cabinets. Or find something you like that's similar in style, but different in finish that compliments each color of cabinet. Knowing what style your kitchen is would help for offering suggestions. Comments (37)don't care for dark around window..in fact, have you considered a smaller wall cabinet between window and patio door...seems boxed in with large dark cabinet ...I'd do an 18 in single door cabinet and open shelves, if you don't care for all open on that wall area..... Consider as well, 30 in wide voided door cabinet with matching interior. The walls seem heavily laden.....editing the space right of window might solve it.....it's not too much open shelving......I use a couple openl shelves for small plates, coffee mugs..a few bowls..things that "turn around" quickly so dust is never an issue......Generally, the darker on bottom and lighter on top is what I'd do.....or intersperse a dark framed cabinet in the middle corner wall area, with glass doors if you want some dark on top...dark on each end seems to box it all in.....the window end is a logical place to lighten it up with sizing, configuration, editing...whatever your preference....See MoreNeed help deciding between all white and two-tone kitchen cabinets
Comments (12)I love my two tone. I like stained wood but didn't want to feel surrounded by brown. I like things a bit mismatchy and seemed like a good fit in my older home. I did the tall cabinets white like the uppers so that everything at eye-level is the same color. Especially because the tall cabinets are right at the entrance to my kitchen (seemed like it would feel too "in-your-face" to have the wood there). I prefer two tone kitchens with the tall cabinets matched to the uppers rather than lowers, but I don't think it's terrible to match the lowers. You can find pics of kitchens done either way. Agree to do a little contrast with the wood floor so it doesn't all blend with the lower cabinets. My kitchen floor was stained to match the rest of the house (IMO it's more red than I'd like, trying to tone it down with the rug), so I did lighter cabinets. I think it would be too much for the floor and cabinets to blend together....See MoreHelp! Stairs between two different wood floor species
Comments (2)Your stair treads appear to be stained. Simply sand them and then refinish them in a natural finish. Be aware that the stair treads MAY BE red oak (which is CHEAPER than white oak). If they are white oak, a natural clear coat (water based polyurethane) will NOT amber or turn a deep orange. I think this has happened to the stairs...or they have a medium stain added. It is hard to tell from your photos. Please add a close up of a stair tread. Please try to photograph a step with the bamboo showing as well as a tread with the upstairs oak showing. That way we can see what is happening. Normally you try to match the stair tread with the PUBLIC area flooring - which I'm assuming is the bamboo. The private areas (normally the upstairs where the bedrooms exist) are stand-alone areas and do not need a match to the stairs....See MoreFori
