In my room we have two options for the decorative shams and pillows. I have a 48" padded bench at the foot of the bed that we can put them on, or a an antique chest against one wall that we also use. We usually put them on the chest, though, because my Westies use the bench for access to our high bed...... Oops, I just reread your post and you were asking about the sleeping pillows, and here I was wondering what everyone else does with their decorative pillows...

I put the sleeping pillows in the chest I spoke of earlier.

I would consider a large basket. Either to slide under a table/nightstand or just to have at the foot of the bed.

And to the Westie lovers - a dog on my list of favs. Susan, I like your idea of a box on wheels to go under the bed - I would just have to make sure that the bed is high enough to do that. We are looking at a TempurPedic mattress and need to find the headboard and frame to fit. Don't know if there is only a particular frame that fits only TempurPedics. Cheers!

I fold mine into the throw at the bottom of our bed. I make up the bed, sans sleeping pillows, and then unfold the throw that's folded at the bottom of our bed. I lay the pillows on it (with them touching in the middle so there's no dip between them) and fold the throw over them. The throw just looks a bit more substantial and it keeps my sleeping pillows close and clean.

Wow. I had no idea I wasn't supposed to put my sleeping pillows behind the decorative pillows. Sometimes, though, I do just put them in the closet before making the bed. :)

I keep my sleeping pillows on the bed even after I make it. I use knife edged pillow shams and rarely use pillow cases so they are a part of the 'decorative' pillows.

I leave mine on the bed under the comforter/quilt. Then I put the deco pillows on top of them.

Well, I was going to say that DH throws them in the corner and grumbles about all the *&^%* pillows, but then I realized you were asking about sleeping pillows, not my decorative pillows. :) When I make the bed, I hide the sleeping pillows behind my Euro-sized decorative shams.

Sarschlos remodeler, your DH and mine must have gone to school together - that's exactly what mine says every night!! He has no respect for the big decorative pillows and shams that I make, and if he gets in there before me, I find them tossed on the floor.....grrrrr!

Yeah, mine does that to all my sofa pillows too. Poor maligned lovelies.

No space for "pretty pillows". So the pillows on the bed are the ones used 24/7. I have clients who have "Day Wear" for their beds and "Evening Wear" to sleep on. Ah, to have that kind of gratuitous, expendable income!

I used to hide the sleeping pillows inside shams during the day which meant I had to pull them out every night. That was insanity! Now they hide behind the decorative pillows and it's pretty much a non-issue.

Just throw them on your bedside rug. Why do you need a "special place" for them?

Mine stay on my bed, behind the decorative shams. Before I started frequenting this forum, I had no idea that anyone did otherwise! No one but DH and I ever sees our bed(room), besides our 3 kids, so I don't give it a lot of thought.

I don't have a pretty staged bed at the moment-- but when I do, my sleeping pillows are under my pillows with shams. I really don't like piles of pillows that aren't functional.

I thought you were going to ask about decorative pillows too.

Somehow at my house, another name for decorative pillow is dog pillow. You can see the thought cross their minds, "THAT looks special and *I* am special. That must be for me."

Just a question about the TV cabinet. Do you only watch TV in the bedroom while you are in bed? I ask because I enjoy watching/listening to the TV in my bedroom while am in the room doing other tasks, and I think that if the TV was at the foot of the bed it would be kind of hard to see from anywhere other than in bed.

Good question, Terriks. We were thinking about getting another lift console tv for our bedroom, but I iron in there and like watching the news or an HGTV show while I iron. I can't iron sitting on our bed, so we keep the tv in our armoire instead. We do have a lift console in our family room, though, and they're great.

Lynn: really like your idea as well - at least they are hidden. Part of the reason for not having the sleeping pillows on the bed is they are not that great looking. We have TempurPedic pillows and the pillowcases don't fit them really well so there's a lot of material around that stick out at the sides and could show with deco pillows in front - don't really know yet. I don't want to spend a lot of time doing my bed either.

Trisha: throwing them on the bedside rug is not an option.

Lynn and Terriks: First, we won't have too much wall space due to a lot of glass for the view and don't want the TV in front of any of the glass. But, I don't plan to spend a lot of time doing work stuff in the bedroom and if I do occasionally I can listen to the news and if there is something interesting to watch I can stop for a few minutes. I think of my bedroom as a place to go away from work and chores and to relax - read,watch TV, sleep. In fact, I will need to put on ear phones when DH is in bed if he wants to read. Ironing and other chores will usually be done in the kitchen, family room, or outside. Thanks for all your ideas - Cheers!

Count me in with the group that puts them behind the decorative pillows. Since I've switched over to a matalasse coverlet (love it!) our sleeping pillows are covered with matalasse shams which are washed along with the sheets. My DH is also one that gets irritated by all the decorative pillows. He has been known to use the decorative one to prop up his foot (he has a chronic bad ankle) and both he and the kids routinely toss down the family room pillows.

I have two drawers reserved in our dresser, one for DH's pillow, one for mine. That's where they live during the day. I used to put them in pillow shams on the bed each morning and take them out each night, but as natal said, that was madness. This way works out perfectly, no muss no fuss.

My DH also hates a lot of decorative pillows! So I've gone to very simple in this respect.

I put them on a shelf in the closet. I know that's not your first choice, but it only takes a few seconds -- at least for me, cause it's only a few steps from the bed.

I just leave the sleeping pillows on the freshly made bed -- and stack the decorative shams (and interior pillow) on top! Then I place the long rectanglar pillow in front of the stack.
