Heat Concern--Have you added doors years later?

Due to heating price concerns for this coming winter, we are wondering if it's cost effective to even consider adding french doors to keep this room separate from the rest of the house.

We have tried to order a fan for our gas fireplace but due to it being 15 years old, it's not available. But we figure if we run the fireplace and close it off, we'd be able to heat this room all by itself.

We are thinking of getting an estimate just to price it out. It would be the standard door, with a wall around the door. Doors opening into the family room.

Please ignore the paint/border/etc. This is the only picture of the entry way I had.

Am I the only one freaking about the $4k plus heating bill we can expect this winter?!??!?!!
