when good outlets go bad...

lets just say i am thankful we didnt have a fire!

this morning my wife turned on the dryer and a few minutes later shut off. when i got home from work i tried it and it came right on. after about 2 minutes i could smell this aweful burning smell. i shut it off and went and flipped the breaker off. i pulled out the dryer expecting to have a build up of lint or something and as i was moving it the plug came out of the outlet like nothing. so that was the first thing i checked... and one of the hot contacts was soo loose that it had been arcing.. and even melted the insulation on the wire a little!

we recently renovated our laundry room and had the dryer relocated. iu could not believe the contractor re used that plug in the condition it was in! the cover was severly cracked and the contact that was bad was sooo loose and black!

but i replaced the recepticle and all is well now.
