When Good Plots Grow Bad

Nell Jean

I think often about when I can't do this any more. Today, DH was mowing and I was operating the wheeled weed whacker. (That way I'm to blame when a precious rose bush gets whacked, which it did.)

When he finished with the regular mowing and moved up to a brush-hog type mower, the groundcover around the old high stump that has Confederate Jasmine on and around it, which was grown up in woody weeds got a haircut in the groundcover part.

Back in May; the Jasmine stump blooming behind the roses:

Today, after a 6 foot wide swath was cut away all the way around:

I slipped the purple daturas into the foreground, they're more interesting than a 6 foot mowed strip and may bloom tonight. You can see the mowed brown area in the background.

Everything I plant now is with an eye toward whether it can be mowed over, in time, except for trees.

What have you renovated lately?

Nell
