His children don't come over so he wants mine out of the picture

I have known my husband for 16 years prior to our marriage. He has two children and I have two adult children. His son was coming over until the point of his mother moving in with her boyfriend. He doesnÃ¯Â¿Â½t see his daughter at all. Both she and his ex would send him text messages saying awful things to him. I asked the ex to stop with the drama and the daughter finally stopped also. The daughter who is now 19 and lives states away has a baby and lives with a controlling boyfriend and his son now 16 has seen his father twice in a year. He came over Christmas and after his birthday when he received his permit. We told him at that time if you are coming over just to get the car that my husband has you are not getting it because you have not seen your father in seven months nor spoke to him. Needless to say we have not heard from him since then. This is how they punish their father.

I feel that every time something happens with his son my husband feels that he wants my son gone also. Grant it that my son is an adult but he lived with me before hand and I am going to give him time to get himself together and move out on his own. My children are not at all like his they appreciate the small things and would do anything for me and I for them. But his kids and ex only have used him and have taken everything that they could and will continue to if he lets them.

Now I am finding it so hard to deal with the fact that my husband seems to be trying to divide my children from me. I know it sounds crazy but that is how I am seeing it. I find that this is heart breaking and is tearing us apart. He feels that I donÃ¯Â¿Â½t care about his feelings and I feel that he is being a brat. If his son were here none of this would be happening, that I know IÃ¯Â¿Â½ve been there before with him.

My son and his girlfriend are looking to get a place together although that is not his first choice, but he sees the difference in my husband. And my son has said once I leave, I will never come back here. And I on the other hand think about leaving the marriage although I love my husband. Needless to say, this should please the ex and kids.

Oh and did I say the ex left him for his best friend and the kids knew about it the entire time. Of course she told my husband that he was deliriousÃ¯Â¿Â½Ã¯Â¿Â½Ã¯Â¿Â½Ã¯Â¿Â½Ã¯Â¿Â½

The title of your post says Ã¢ÂÂhis children donÃ¢ÂÂt come over so he wants mine out of the pictureÃ¢ÂÂ, but I just donÃ¢ÂÂt see anything in your post that supports this statement.

I donÃ¢ÂÂt think just because your DHÃ¢ÂÂs children donÃ¢ÂÂt want to see him that that is making your DH want your children Ã¢ÂÂout of the picture.Ã¢ÂÂ I donÃ¢ÂÂt see how the two issues are related.

Your son is an adult. The only reason an adult child should still be living with their parents is due to financial hardship. And that situation should be temporary, not an indefinite amount of time.

Just based on what information you gave, I donÃ¢ÂÂt see how your husband is trying to divide you from your children. You feel your DH is trying to tear you apart from your children, but could it be your DHÃ¢ÂÂs issue is that your grown son is still living in the home?

And what does DH's ex affair have to do with anything?

Have you sat down with DH and told him your concerns?

your son is an adult and you are going to give him time get things together. That statement seems contradictory because adulthood implies that one is fully capable of making life decisions, take responsiblity on one's own two feet.

I don't think your husband is trying to separate you from your children. He perhaps simply is expecting a GROWN UP man/woman to be on their own .

Thanks for the link TOS, it gives some interesting background. But I want to know the mechanisms involved... It seems strange to me that asthma is an inflammation response in the respiratory system, and Motrin (which is an ibuprofen) is an anti-inflammatory agent, but it could trigger asthma So I went PubMed-ing... It was tough to find what I was looking for, and the first thing I learned might be of interest to many of us: anti-inflammatories (like Motrin) can increase the risk of Staph infections from chicken-pox and are not recommended for pain relief during chicken-pox... Anyhow on to asthma and Motrin... I found a study where 2% of children with mild to moderate asthma had increased bronchospasms from exposure to ibuprofen but they didn't talk about why... But then I found another that found that ibuprofen was actually less of an asthma irritant than acetominophen and may actually have uses as an asthma suppressant... Again, no mention of molecular mechanism. And so it carried, back and forth on until I found what I was looking for... Anti-inflammatories can cause a decrease in antioxidant levels, particularly in the respiratory and digestive systems. Certain asthmas can be exacerbated by decreases in respiratory antioxidant levels. So what happens is: The Motrin sends a signal to the cells in the lungs to produce fewer antioxidants. In a healthy person, this doesn't matter very much. In an asthmatic, this can trigger an asthma attack and cause inflammation and bronchospasms. So, it can worsen asthma in asthmatics or cause mild asthma symptoms in people who are not otherwise asthmatic. Neato.

I second KKNY and others who suggested there is a major backstory here that is missing. No parents "isolate" their 18 yo daughter (if that's what they did) without a reason. Parents don't have a "separate" Christmas (with a separate "Big Tree upstairs" which I guess is also an indication of a more special family celebration)from their DD just because she has children. (You indicated that your brothers' girlfriends (now wife and fiancee) have always been included in the "Big Tree" celebration, so it's not the fact that you have a DH.) AND, as for the slide show, it is extremely weird that you were not in any photos. I don't mean to be flippant, but, in the absence of some horrid mistake, a monkey putting together a slide show like this would make sure that there was at least one photo of all of the groom's siblings, especially one who lived with him, as you apparently did, for the first nine years of his life. No, it seems to me that there is much, much more to this than you have disclosed, so much that I certainly can't give you any advice. However, IF on the other hand, you truly have given a full and accurate depiction of events and you have never done anything whatsoever to warrant or cause your "isolation" and have no idea on earth why your mother, SD and 2 DSBs would treat you this way, then if I were you, I would consider these people psychopathic and disassociate myself from them.

First, let me CONGRATULATE you for realizing this is not working and will never work for you. That is something that many, myself included, never realize before it's too late. Tell him one final time, via letter, then: Stop answering his calls and/or emails. Period. Never, ever answer or engage him in any way again. This will just make him think there's a chance he can get back into your life. Do not speak to him and give him the opening to wear you down and make you feel guilty about not trying again. That is why I suggest the letter. A few other observations, and these are red flags that you have probably already seen, but just in case: 1. "He's been married twice already." HUGE red flag! No matter what he's told you about his ex wives, there is a reason he has two exes. Don't sign up to be ex #3. (I was wife #2, and he's got #3 lined up. I wish I could warn this poor woman, but she'd never listen. He is controlling, and verbally and emotionally abusive. He did not start this until after I married him.) 2. "I am trying to wave all sorts of red flags, and this man is not understanding what I'm telling him." Another huge red flag. He DOES understand, but he is refusing to respect your thoughts, feelings, and boundaries. That type of treatment manifests itself in so many awful ways if you continue a relationship with this kind of person. 3. "Helping me go through my "issues" Um, you don't have any issues! You simply and wisely realize that this is not for you. He thinks he can show/teach/change you, against your already stated desires. Red flag for a controlling personality. 4. "I don't want to be the source of more pain to them, but I have to look out for myself and my future as well, and this situation doesn't make me happy." Follow your gut! You are absolutely right, you have to look out for YOURSELF and your future. You are not happy! Embrace your feelings because they are saving you YEARS of future anguish. It's hard to be a source of pain to someone, but what's the alternative? Marry this guy and ruin your life? I won't even go into the stepmother issue, there's plenty of that to read on other threads here.

Sorry ashley missed your post.... Mom called DSS back in July when I refused to let SD talk to her mom after she had already been on the phone with her for 4 hours. When DSS came to our home they didn't find anything to really charge any of us with .... but they felt SD actions required some immediate intervention... so they came once in july once in aug and once in sept. to our home but they go weekly to mom's on either a wed or fri... to "meet with the children" because every monday and thurs mom would call and report us to DSS for something else .... she even took SD9 and SS10 to the police station to file a report against hubby because he let them go to their mothers instead of arguing with them ... she said he was just looking to get rid of them ... then she had them speak to the judge how "they were afraid to come home" So DSS thinks SD is in danger. The boys are in counseling mom met with their counselors last week ... I spoke with the counselor on tues (14th) and said ... well DSS had til friday (10th) to have services in place so I am guessing they are closing the case ... DSS called me an hour later to tell me they are keeping the case open and that the counselors filed against mom for emotional abuse of my SC. DSS told us in Sept they had big plans ... for us ... including family therapy, daily visits from a parenting aide, a whole list of "things" and none of it had been put in place by the 10th that was the end date of the 45 day assessment. Mom calls DSS one month before they have to go back to court this is the third time she has called but its the first time anything came of it .... When I spoke with DSS they said the parenting aide wasn't going to work because that was only an 8-week assessment and our case is going to take longer than 8 weeks .... If I hear one more person say for the sake of the children I am just going to explode!!!
