suggest a compact circular saw for my Christmas list

(mentioned this on someone else's thread about power saws)

I only do things like make shelving units and similar stuff, in one-off types of projects (like, the kid moves into a new dorm room, and a bookcase just the right size would be useful, so I whip out the Kreg jig). So really, it's more a craft situation than any heavy-duty kind of thing.

And I live in an apartment, so I have no workshop. I have to drag everything out of the storage closet and put it away.

I would like to be able to crosscut 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch boards (either of lumber or of plywood) and get a perfectly perpendicular edge (I have a jigsaw, which I got bcs it's lightweight and easy for a wimp to handle, but the blade bends; it's really asking too much of it).

It would be nice if I could also rip plywood sheets--not crucial, though.

I would also like to be able to cut through a 2x4, but that's pretty much it for what I would expect this saw to tackle.

I'm really attracted to the small saws--I really don't want a full-size one. It will be a pain to lug in and out of the storage area, and also to pick up and put down. And it will take up more space for storage itself.

Does anybody have any advice / suggestions?

I am intrigued by this one (mostly bcs of its dust port):

And this Ryobi one (bcs it's cordless), which is part of a battery-powered set. (does that make it too wimpy?)

Any suggestions, recommendations, caveats, etc.?
