I don't mean to sound ignorant but....

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but does anyone else feel that we have become a society obessessed with attributing our kids behavior problems to medical illnesses? ADD, ADHD, executive function disorder (I had to look that one up) aspergers syndrome, bipolar disorder, depressive disorder etc. I am not saying that these illness don't exist, I just wonder is it's creating an excuse for an generation that was raised with too much of everything, too little discipline, and no sense of what it means to be personally responsible for their actions/inactions. It seems to me that regardless of their oncome level, most parents feel they must give, give, give to their kids. (Even when they can't afford to do so). The notions of actually having to earn what you have and not have everything you want, seems to no longer exist. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way.
