Seeking advice on curtain rods
Comments (4)My $.02, I don't think you need to hang those window treatments at the same height. I woudln't. I agree with PP in saying that since the ceiling heights vary, I would treat each window individually re: height. As for rods, I hear you on the cost! In my old living room, and now my family room, I put my curtains on a traverse rod. Not the prettiest but the functionality was key. They now sell decorative traverse rods. Much cheaper option than your decorator's option. Alternatively, I have used the adjustable rods from Country Curtains that are metal but the finials are wood (Regal line). I was pleased with them and they are a great price. If you have the curtains on rings, they would be easier to open. I didn't use rings and it was a little bit of a pain to open and shut but I did it several times a day in my son's room due to naps and I survived. So, I really just depends on ease of use, decor, etc. While $750 is a lot of money, it is pretty much the going rate when you do these things through a decorator. For me, I remedied that by going high end in some rooms and budget in others. Hope this helps a bit!...See MoreI need your opinion on curtain placement/adding panels
Comments (25)I think your curtains are fine but the dark window and door surrounds are not a good look. You could paint them the color of the wall or white like the curtains. I think that would help a lot. Otherwise this area is very nice, like the rug and furniture, it all flows together very well. It's the dark frames that stick out and don't relate to anything else in the rooms....See Moreneed advice on curtain placement, please help!
Comments (12)I made 4 pairs of drapes for the biggest windows in my house this summer. You just need to make sure you get enought panels (or curtain width) to fit that big of a space. From what I read, your sliding glass doors are 96" wide with an additional 40" of wall space that totals 136" wide. That is a huge area to cover with the proper size of drapes. You will need drapes that are at least close to 160" wide, depending on if they are pleated or have grommets, to hang properly in that space. I also suggest hanging the drapes high enough to not hit the floor but float at least an inch or two above the floor. You may have to buy several panels or have these drapes custom made....See MoreCurtain rod and curtain placement
