I couldn't ever find this thread after I posted it, so I figured I had boo-booed preview vs. submit thing (where I preview, but think I've submitted) and never actually posted the question. I just happened upon it via Google. Yay! I still don't have my rods hung, but need to get to it since I will not be putting blinds up and privacy would be nice. :) These windows are very similar to what I have. The same trim is above the window in both of these rooms, but the stager put the rods in very different places... I really don't like the second one. With the drapes closed, you're going to have this hovering white band above your rod and I think that will look entirely weird. Amysrq - I'm guessing this is the same look you were referring to? But I don't really love the first pic, either. Maybe it's the scale of the rod? I might like it more if the rod were larger diameter and looked less like a cafe rod. I also don't really want to mount the rod on the trim proper. I tend to carry my rods 12" - 20" beyond the edge of the window, so that when the drapes are opened as much of the window reveals as possible. Considering velvet drapes for these windows, too, so that space would be even more important.

Interesting. I have two. In the master bathroom, I installed "The Arc" shower curtain rod myself. I just guessed at the placement. Lol. The inside edge of the bracket is 8 inches from the outside edge of the shower/tub. The other arched rod, in the other bathroom, is a cheapo from Bed, Bath & Beyond I had to rush out to get when the old one came crashing down and I had tenants coming. The old one had been installed by the prior owner, WAY too high and too far in. The new BB&B rod, inside edge of the bracket is 4 inches from the outside edge of the shower. Yet, the BB&B rod doesn't give as much elbow room as "The Arc" rod because the Arc has a much larger arch. The Arc is made from 'airplane aluminum", so it is flexible. You can even cut it to fit if you have to do so. So, the shower that has the Arc rod but which has the anchors much farther in has much more room, while the arched rod which is set farther out has less. I suspect the Moen rod is more like the BB&B rod, so 8 inches in would be WAY too much, rendering the arch of the rod all but useless.

Hi sorry I've tried to edit the post multiple times to add a photo but it's not going through. Hopefully this works. Also, would you mount curtains close to the ceiling? The height of ceiling is 96" (not taking into account crown molding). The height of windows is around 82". The curtains I was looking at were either 84" or 95". I was thinking double curtains with something sheer on the inside and blackout curtains facing out. Thank you!

I'm on board with groveraxle. I would hang them higher than the windows, just a touch under the crown molding, and hang them wider than the width of the window. 6-8 inches from the top of your window and 6-8 inches wider than your window will give you function of the curtains while not impeding your view. Just make sure you take into consideration buying longer curtains so they reach the floor. You can go for a flooded look or you can easily hem them if desired using no-sew iron-on tape.
