Curtain rod and curtain placement

Lila

I have some wood trimmed windows/doors that I want to put curtains over. In the first room (with the white door and frosted window), my plan was to cover both with one rod and four curtain panels (sheer and solid). Im not sure what to do though because my floor to ceiling is 94” and I’m wondering which would be better:

  1. place the curtain rod right below the ceiling and buy 96” curtains which will pool on the floor and potentially get dirty more easily
  2. place the curtain rod between the ceiling and wood frame and buy 84” curtains which, depending on the height of my rod, might look awkward

I have the same question for the second set of windows/glass door.
