Sandstone, you've hit upon one of the worst-kept secrets in family law: All parents are not treated equally. I have a friend who finally won custody of his three children two years ago. He had been fighting for six years to just have visitation. Their mother is a drug addict who was shacking up with a meth dealer who abused the children. During his entire six-year battle, he paid child support AND attorney fees, plus virtually all the travel costs involved with seeing his children. When his ex finally surrendered custody, the judge ordered him to continue making half of the travel. They live 70 miles apart, so twice a month, he has to drive over and pick the kids up or drop them off for visits. She was ordered to pay child support but of course, she never does. She violates the custody orders all the time, but the court doesn't care.
That's the way the ole family court ball bounces.

I hear what you are saying... We did everything we could to ensure her relationship with the girls continued but once there were legal "Rules" in place and she had to have supervised visitation due to extensive abuse on her part,(Physical and mental) she quit trying to see them at all! It's been well over 5 yrs and not one contact. The bad thing is she is not held responsible by anybody! She has even ran into my mother in-law in a grocery store and said hello, but didn't even ask how her children were!!! And let's get real with child support recovery They only do the bare minimum unless money is owed directly to the state! I'll bet if they worked on a comission you would see much better results. For now we just keep struggling to keep our heads above water while she gets to go out partying and living like she hasn't a care in the world. She was arrested for public intox and criminal mischief on Aug 20, 2006. She has the money to go out drinking but can't pay child support... the really sad thing is the 20th is her middle daughter's b-day... that beer money cold have went towards a gift for her!

I thought about doing a bad thing when I divorced my X. Glad I didn't. I wanted to protect the kids from a truly hateful, mean, abusive father. I was going to ask a friend to write X a letter stating he wasn't their father in the hopes he would run off and leave us alone. And believe me, now that they are grown, it would have been better. but I couldn't have lived with my conscience. My point is, your GF could just be really mad and vindictive and wants revenge. Get a test to find out for sure.

I also think it's terrible the way the courts go after the dad's with a vengence and dont do anything to the moms! For the past 10 years,if my husband's child support payment was so much as a week late,he was sent a letter saying his liscense would be suspended.
Yet,when his ex whom he paid child support to committed fraud because their child didnt even live with her,yet she continued to collect money,all they did was close the case! If that had been him,they would have probably arrested him.
And may I just add,suspending the man's lisecnse is the STUPIDEST thing they can do when if the man has no liscense and cant get to work,how do they expect them to even pay the support??? The ones who are thousands in arrears usually dont even have a lisecnse or flee so it doesnt effect them~only the hard working guys whose payment may have been late because of a holiday or something.
I'm so glad my husband's children just turned 18,because Social services is a joke and does all they can to ruin your lives.I cant count how many times they've messed up my husband's account and he's had to take off work and go down there to straighten it out. The people that work there are so retarded.Once they even mis took him for another man with the same name!!!
brandonb50~ get a paternity test as soon as possible! And if you are found not to be father,sue that woman for all she made you pay!!!

The courts don't necessarily go after the fathers with a vengeance. The court told my ex-husband and me that he was too old (at just over 50) to find a job. What matters is which party has the high-powered, expensive lawyer.
