Suggestions for yellow exterior paint color please!

I have to pick a color (primer--so I CAN change my mind) by tomorrow morning for the exterior of a small commercial building...It is near the water and will be a small marina. There are not many trees right on the lot, but along the sides. We are wanting a nice cheery yellow, but not screaming yellow. There will be lots of white trim. Here's an inspiration photo from Hawaii :)

I realize the blue sets it off nicely,but not sure if we will use it.

Wish I had a pic of our bldg., but hopefully someone has a real nice yellow that they've used!

My builder will be using SW paint or stain.....so I need to start there...I know I can have them mix a BM .color too though....I have both fan decks

There are literally thousands of colors and shade variations to choose from so it's really comes down to personal taste. We just picked our color on our new construction. We are in a woodsy setting and are big fans of earth tones to blend the house into it's surroundings. We have Hardiplank siding and chose the timberbark color (a Hardiplank color) The sample looked like a taupe brown but once the whole home was painted it looks much darker. Keep that in mind. It's pretty dark but it's growing on us. I'm told it will probably lighten up as time goes on as well. If it were me, I'd try to blend some earth tone shade with your beautiful stone work. Good luck

I think it looks nice now, but do see some pinkinsh tones in the one pic. Cute house. How about SW6002 Essential Gray or 6003 Proper Gray? I think your house would look very cute in gray with white trim. Or 6247 Krypton or 6248 Jubilee? Those are slightly more blue-gray with green tones in them. Actually 6248 is still beachy but has a green hue as I look at it inside. Not sure if it will hold that color outside. I like the green you like and think it is ok for beachy, but think I might lighten it a shade or two.

For the siding, what about a soft warm gray from your stone? I don't think it is bad as is and like the yellow door. Not sure it's worth the expense of having it painted to sell.

i have a bunch of pics here, so use your imagination and try to vision what I think would look good on your place. Love you metal roof idea. I think you should update the home (the 60's were good, but it's time for a facelift) to more of a mid century modern vibe. there are a few ways. First, Paint. yes, paint the brick (With Romabio of course. it's meant for masonry and has almost zero upkeep. look it up. Not the lime wash one, the masonry paint. you can have it tinted to any color so, imagine if the siding was done in a dark charcoal, and the brick below painted a soft white or gray? Or you could reverse the colors another poster on here painted their brick and was looking for another color option for the siding. I'd do your window trim in a dark color. here's a before/after from another poster on here. looks good eh? painted brick, white siding, dark window trim, AND she added the wood slat on the porch area. Wood is necessary! so the other option, composite wood siding (Hardie) on the 2nd story, just like this. paint the brick oh, and more modern garage doors. that's a must I love this one. similar style home to yours. you could paint the brick white, do the composite wood siding, trim out the windows, new garage door, front door. I don't think it's quite as yellow as your picture, but someone on her used SW Compatible Cream on their house and it looks great.

Thanks Laurie! SW Compatible Cream was one I was looking at, but it looks kinda "goldy"? Maybe not so much outside though. I was also looking at SW Jersey Cream......I wish I had posted earlier with a pic of our bldg. and asked for suggestions then. But of course I work best under pressure! HA

Thanks Laurie! SW Compatible Cream was one I was looking at, but it looks kinda "goldy"? Maybe not so much outside though. I was also looking at SW Jersey Cream......I wish I had posted earlier with a pic of our bldg. and asked for suggestions then. But of course I work best under pressure! HA

I just painted my house BM 312 Crown Hill Yellow and I am so happy with it!

I found three houses in my town that had a cheery yellow that appealed to me. I asked at all of the houses (left notes) and all 3 came back to me saying, Crown Hill Yellow. So the color picked me!

Scaffolds are still up at my house, so I don't have a picture, but I can attest it is a bright cheery yellow, without any orange, that looks good on my 1920 New England home. Even the neighbors have called to say bravo. Which was a relief for me because it is a big YELLOW!

Good luck and have fun picking. I opted for white trim, not creamy, I have a white portico, white columns, white window trim, etc. Like you, lots of white trim!

Thanks Semi! Would love to see pics. It sounds pretty. I looked at the color on the strip and it seems quite bright for our project, but maybe I'll sample it.

I too, am thinking alot of white, not creamy, trim to set it off. Am leaning towards Jersey Cream and hope there will be enough contrast.

Your first inspiration picture looks more apricot than yellow to me, maybe BM Asbury Sand? As far as yellows, you might want to consider BM Hawthorne Yellow, Weston Flax or Straw. I just painted my house yellow but used a buttercream color which is much lighter than what you're going for.

Well, we've sampled SW Jersey Cream on a small portion of the building...I will TRY to post a pic soon....

mom270: That picture Does look peachy...hmmm...It's not IRL; looks more like the upper portion of the second pic. DH picked BM Hawthorne right from the start,but I thought it may be too yellow, and was wondering about Weston Flax. Might try that yet. Thanks!
