Help, how do I get 'Great Stuff' foam off my hands?
Comments (195)Getting Great Stuff foam off your hands can be challenging, but here are a few methods you can try: Use soap and water: Try washing your hands with soap and water, as this may be enough to remove the foam. Use warm water and lather your hands with soap, then scrub the foam off your skin. Use acetone or nail polish remover: Acetone can dissolve Great Stuff foam. Apply some acetone or nail polish remover to a cloth or cotton ball and rub it onto the foam residue on your hands. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after using acetone. Use a pumice stone: A pumice stone can help scrub the foam off your hands. Wet the stone and rub it over the foam residue in a circular motion. This may take some time, but it can be effective....See MoreConverting junction box to outlet receptacle
Comments (2)You've got a number of problems here. First off, if my eyes serve me right, those are 10g wires and a 13 cu in handy box. That's overfilling the box. However if you rip out the whip to the cooktop, and put in a single device yoke, you'd still overfill the box. Your electric cooktop installation is also making use of a grandfathered provision in the code that allows the grounded conductor to be used as the frame ground for the cooktop. You can't get away with that for a regular receptacle. You'd need to replace that box with a larger one that would be legal (you need 14 cu in at least). The next issue is you need a ground (you can not use the neutral). I can't see what is feeding that box. If it is armored cable or conduit that can legally serve as a ground, you are OK. If it is some form of other cable, you can either strip or recolor the white green on both ends (and terminate the white on the ground on the other end). You need to put an appropriate sized breaker in for the receptacle you're using (15 or 20A most likely). It probably has a 30 now. You should ask an electrician to come visit. THere's too much stuff I can't see with the little picture you show. It might be doable, it might not....See MoreBacksplash border and Electrical outlets/plugs
Comments (10)Sophie - first, I love Sonoma Tilemaker's tantrum glass tiles. LOVE IT and it will look great with your blue island - what fun. Second - I like the last sketch you did but before I even saw it I thought if the blue tiles as a solid block is "too" much behind the backsplash, why don't you use the subways to make a grid and put the small tiles inside the grid squares. It might be too difficult to figure out the math/layout/dimensions but just something that came to mind. Or maybe something like this but obviously with your blues and whites. Maybe get 4x4's in the tantrum blue color....See MoreIsland electrical / Which outlet to mount on a skirt?
Comments (14)I also think the two on each end are enough. I can't imagine it would happen often that you'd have 3 people all sitting at the island at the same time all in with low batteries.... not likely. Therefore the two on the end would be enough. Even if you did have the above mentioned situation, power cords are long enough to run across the island to share the duplex outlet with another user. I think brown recessed would be fine. It'll be in a shadow, and will blend in fine. We put the skirt on, and it's 4" -- I don't think I'd do 6" because with a cushy stool, it gets a bit cramped between the top of an adult thigh and the bottom of the skirt even with 4". We were able to additional 1x4 trim pieces from our cabinet company, I think the skirt is the same as the board we used along the bottom backside of the island as a trim board....See More- 14 years ago
