Do you have both a family room & a living room?
Comments (7)We never use our formal dining room nor our formal living room. Our kitchen has a table in it and is probably about the size of your kitchen and dining room combined. An eat-in kitchen would be a great idea for you. Use the dining room as part of the kitchen and then open up the whole area to either the current living or family room so you can see what's going on in that room from the kitchen (open concept). Don't live now for re-sale later! (unless resale is imminent) Use the extra room as living or dining room, whichever you will actually use. Hardly anybody I know ever uses the formal dining room, but we all have eat-in kitchens. Since neither room has special plumbing etc, for resale it can be staged however you like. Just make it what you need for now. In my dreams, I open up my kitchen to the dining room and put in a 12 foot long island with an angle and an overhang for stools. I would keep my table in it an maybe put a little tiny conversation area at one end if I had space. I woul never miss my formal dining area, except that it looks pretty if anybody ever did go in there.....See MoreHow long do Amaryllis live and what's oldest one you have in a pot?
Comments (16)It is very beautiful and it kinda reminds me of striatum? I have one that I purchased on Ebay as 'Old Timey Orange' and the seller said that it has been it in his family for a long time. I have mine in the front window and it's sending up two scapes at the moment. I only purchased one bulb and it's got a whole potful of babies next to the mother bulb. Also, it seems to bloom several times a year :-))))...See MoreTwo sofas or one sofa and 2 chairs in narrow living room w/ fireplace
Comments (7)Having 2 comfortable chairs is equivalent to a sofa, as has been stated no one sits in the middle seat. That’s why people opt for 2 chairs over a loveseat. Although, I’ve Found when I have guests, often times a couple sit together on the loveseat....See MoreTiny living room-one coffee table or two side tables?
Comments (10)I think it is a bit of overkill to have both, especially since they tend to hang out in matched sets. It depends on what kind of entertaining you do. If your guests are likely to turn up the music and need some space to dance, then the coffee table would be in the way. Even if you think you need end tables because you want to increase your lighting with lamps, you can put a pair of matched floor lamps at each end of the sofa and use a coffee table. If you're likely to need extra seating more often than a surface for drinks, an ottoman that can be topped with a tray or used for seating might be best. If your style is very formal to antique, then all three tables might work for you. Be sure end tables arrive 1" above or below the sofa's arms. When topped with lamps, the lamps should reach 58-64" above the floor. Coffee tables should be 12-18" from the seating to be useful, and arrive 1" above or below the sofa seat. Keep it within 2/3 of the sofa's length and half its width....See Morernest44
