GE fride making buzzing sound
Comments (1)Uh oh! We are dealing with a similar sound on a NEW frig, sigh! Ours, and maybe yours, is the evaporator fan. Does the noise go off when you open the freezer up?? If so, then this might be what your problem is and it is usually a service call... Good Luck!...See Morebuzzing sound when I turn on lights
Comments (9)I have had cfl bulbs in all my bathrooms for years with no problems. What you need to do is get rid of the dimmer switch which probably is the source of the buzzing. dimmer switches do not work with the compact florescent bulbs unless they are specified for use with a dimmer. these type are hard to find though. The electronics in these type of bulbs are sealed and work fine in a humid environment. I have also had them in outside fixtures that are open on the bottom and they have been out there for a couple of years and they still function fine. Plus they also work fine during the winter when it gets down around zero. They just take longer to warm up and they are not the outdoor cfl's The electronics in these bulbs are sealed enough for the use in the slightly humid environment of a bathroom. the one bathroom we use them in presently has no bath fan and does get very humid and the bulbs in use have been in there for at least 2 years and not one of them has burnt out yet. Go ahead and use them AFTER removing the dimmer switch....See MoreBuzzing sound in house
Comments (9)Electrician now ruled out it being any of the meters or the breaker after switching everything off and the buzzing still being present. It appears to be coming from between the ceiling of that cupboard and the floorboards of the landing above it. Could there be anything that would make this sound in that area, there may be some pipes but nothing electrical as the electric was switched off and the buzzing still sounded. Any ideas or do I refer to the plumbing section before tearing up the floorboards?...See MoreRazor only power outlet buzzing sound
Comments (9)I never heard of a razor-only outlet so I looked it up. Interesting idea to use a transformer before GFCIs were widely available. From another site: "In many older homes, you will find that they have a “razor only” receptacle in the bathroom. These usually have a polished silver plate, mounted in a 4” X 4” box, and the outlet has only two prongs. These were designed to isolate you from the grounded electrical system in your house by limiting the amount of current that could flow in a fault condition." TB, pharkus has lent his good expertise to many, many questions on this forum. I would take him seriously. Sometimes people misread stuff. In my experience, it usually hurts to be too spicy in my posts....See Morehendricus
