Step Kids and lending blending famlies

This is my first posting here. This past weekend was so bad that I googled "step-kids hate me", and lo and behold many women with my same feelings have written. I am glad I am not alone. My significant other and I bought a home where we live with my 2 boys fulltime and his two boys fulltime. The bio mom is always taking him to court for custody, but after 7 years and two briefcases full of Motions and Orders, the Court still feels that my Sig Other is the better parent. However, Ive tried to embrace his two boys 11 and 9. It is so hard to do when they go to their mothers house, they come back hating me. I have always been one to show fairness with all boys. I do find myself fighting more for the rights of my boys now because it seems that we always have to focus our energies on whats wrong with his kids, how are they feeling, and ultimately blaming the step mom and her husband for everything. His oldest is a hypocondraic and have pathological liar tendencies. The youngest likes to steal. But instead of confronting the boys, we place blame on his mother. Its really hard to keep a level head and not get sucked into this.

The other thing, and this is my question. His boys call me mom. I dont want them to do that. But every time I have asked them to please call me by my name it goes back to mom. Their dad says "well, its whow they view you. Dont have them stop that!" However, when they are at their moms, I know she doesnt allow this to be the case, so if we are in a public place or on the phone with them while they are at their moms, they just generally get uncomfortable and said "hi...uhhh.... pam mmoom..." and I want it to stop. He wont help in the process so I have solicited my boys who cringe every time the step boys call me mom.

Theres so much action in this house and with four boys, and my oldest in college, I AM BUSY!!!!!! I sometimes feel walked on, and really want it to stop. I wonder if this was a mistake. We were so compatible before we got this house and moved in together. Now I can see thinghs more clearly.
