Undercabinet lighting - transformer?

I am preparing to install 9 xenon "puck" undercabinet lights in my kitchen. They are 20 watts each and will be hard-wired into a light switch near my sink, replacing an existing fluorescent. If I install them in parallel at 120 volts, I'd run 54 amps - WAY too much. Installing them in series reduces the light output significantly. Should I install a transformer to step-down the voltage? If so, how far should I drop it (eg - 20 volts = 9.1 amps)? What effect will this reduced voltage have on the light output, if any? Thanks in advance for your advice!!
