Comments (40)It is good that you will get another opinion. My DH just tells me what he doesn't like LOL but gives me no suggestions as to what color to go with. I am thinking about cognac for the mbr but I don't want anything peachy and someone said it looks peachy at certain times of the day. I want a rich color and bronze looks nice but when Ellen sent me the new set of sample cards the new bronze card looked totally different from my old bronze card. I really liked the old bronze but do not like the new. Strange. Actually the new card mustard seed looked totally different than my old card (old card matches my painted walls perfectly). The adobe card looks different too. Maybe she changed the formula since I got my original set of cards or maybe the paint itself has changed (like a new formula VOC). We shall see. I want darker colors too and DH wants light so for our foyer it may be wheat - though I would like a darker color. We are using gustavian grey for his office which is located off the foyer. He likes that one!! Well, like I said, keep us posted! Show pics of the other colors too when you get them painted....See MoreIs this bedroom set too massive for my bedroom? (pics!)
Comments (51)Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?...See MorePlease help me pick a 'spa' blue for my bedroom
Comments (12)Here are a few more- BM Palladian Blue or Wythe Blue (on the same strip in the historical collection). These seem a touch strong to me. Look at the BM strip that starts at color #701 "Swept Away"-love that strip. Similar to Palladian and Wythe but not quite as bold. Also the SW strip that starts with #6210 "Window Pane"-someone mentioned the color "Quietude" above and that's on the same strip....See MorePainted bedroom blue.. what color to paint the bathroom? Comments (10)I posted this for you under the DIY Master Bath post, but just in case you didn't see it. sonaliagrawal, my DH just removed an 85" unframed mirror from my boys bathroom. He used two sets of Gordon brand Heavy Duty Suction Cups from Harbor Freight. DH says they were less than $10 a piece. They're designed with a hand grip and a suction cup on either side. They tighten down to the mirror with clips. Without much force, the mirror pulled from the wall and left behind 8-10 blobs of black mastic on the drywall. You then carry the mirror away holding the hand grips, so it helps to have a set regardless of the size of your mirror, so you can balance the weight of the mirror with both arms. I couldn't have removed a mirror this large - it definitely took the strength of a man to carry it away. I used a metal scraper to get off the mastic blobs that would be visible if I remodel with two framed mirrors. They came off but took the top layer of paper from the drywall. Any blobs that will be hidden behind the new mirrors are being left as is. I spackled the torn drywall spots today, but haven't sanded them yet. If there's a better way to get off the mastic, I'd love to hear it. Hope I helped....See MoreRelated Professionals
