Tearing down wall -- what to do with electrical outlets?

I am removing some plaster and lath walls from my 1868 house. I will be tearing out the plaster and lath myself, but will be getting in a carpenter/professional to help me with the support beams and finish work. Two of the walls have one electrical outlet (each) on them. One outlet is probably from the 1960's and I think is non-functional and the other outlet is more recent, within the past five years, and works. Can I safely tear down this plaster & lath without electrocuting myself? Or do I need an electrician to come to my house to work/disconnect the outlets before I begin demo? I would like to save as much money as I can. I was hoping I could have the electrican come out to dismantle the boxes after the plaster and lath are down, as of course he will need to remove these boxes and install new outlets after the walls are down. Thanks for your help.
