Here is what it says on the 3M site about outside use of the Command hooks: Q: Can I use Command adhesive outside in cold climates? A: You can, but the adhesive should be applied to a clean, smooth, dry surface when the temperature is above 50°F (10°C). If the temperature is below 50°F you can heat the surface with a hair dryer before application. Q: Can I use Command adhesive outside in hot climates? A: Extreme heat conditions and sunlight may cause the adhesive to eventually deteriorate, causing product failure. The adhesive could soften and lose adhesion above 105°F (40°C). I'm going to give them a try.....

Nice penny ball. I did one a couple of summers ago with new pennies. It was bright and shiny for about a year but its pretty dull now. I actually like the look of it now too. What I do with the BBs is set them in a bowl with the finger holes down in the bowl. I start at the top of the ball gluing pennies or marbles and just keep working my way down towards the bowl and the finger holes. I finish off around the finger holes as best as I can. The finger hole ares is usually going to be facing down in a pot, etc. and not showing so any uneven placement of pennies or marbles is not going to show. Some people fill the finger holes with putty and place marbles right over top of them but I don't.

I love it, and thanks for sharing how to get a quick patina! I made one last year for DH, and after I finished it I mixed salt and vinegar and sponged it on, and it quickly formed a beautiful green patina. It's only gotten more beautiful since then. That's a great idea to set it on a copper pipe in the ground, mine is on a stand on the deck, but I like the copper pipe better! I'm sure the Miracle Grow would be much better to try, and wouldn't stink so much, LOL!!!

Welcome... That does look like an inexpensive fun project. I used to do something similar with my class ea year by using old wood curtain rings. I took photos of the kids and they glued them to the back of the ring and then glued a small paper doily as a backing...They looked like hanging 'snowflakes' with photos inside!
