Marvin vs. Jeld-Wen

Lorraine Fast

We are upgrading a porch to a 4 season room and have been looking at windows for a couple of months. Our house was built in the 1800's so the rest of our house has wood windows. We don't necessarily feel we HAVE to make the porch match the rest of the house and so are considering Marvin's Infinity new construction white fiberglass windows for low maintenance and easy care. We are also considering Jeld-Wen's Tradition Plus (sold at Home Depot) for a more classic, all wood look. Does anyone have any idea if the Jeld-Wen sold at Home Depot is a good quality window? Will it be durable? Will it be hard to get service or replacement parts if we buy through a big box store? On the other hand, does anyone have experience with fiberglass windows? Are they too "utilitarian" looking for a nice room? Is fiberglass considered something you only use for basements and garages?

thanks.
