Childish Adults (Not 100% SP related)

Not so much a stepparent issue, but one that was caused by my status as "Wicked SM."

BM's best friend and her entire family decided to shun DH and me at church. We were no longer allowed to speak to the children DH has known for years, kids who my SC are close to, and who were becoming friends with my BC. This friend told DH to quit greeting them and "make your wife stop speaking to my kids or I WILL." Okay, lovely Christian spirit....

Anyway, Best friend and her immediate family moved across the country. That leaves just her mother and sister, who still completely ignore our presence. There has always been a level of disrespect towards DH, for whatever reason, even before I came along. The sister posted a very rude comment about us on BM's Myspace, knowing at least one of our kids would see it. (Actually, my SIL saw it and sent a copy to me.) The sister was urging BM to assault me again, and take pictures, despite having no real clue as to the issues between us. This is the "sweet girl" who everyone adores at our church! I was tempted to buy her a camera and tell her to do it herself! :-P

I have heard the mother be rude to my DH. He ignores it. I have been close to telling her off. I have been literally one of 50+ people at a function where she has bid farewell to every single person, bypassed me, and continued giving hugs and kisses to everyone else. Until the last occasion I have only sporadically said hello or goodbye, and only if we were near each other. I have finally decided that from now on I will great her immediately, and be sure to say goodbye every chance I get, even if it means seeking her out. I know this sounds like I am baiting her, but really, I want her to see that she will not explode if we are cordial, especially at church.

I don't intend to do this in a fake, overly friendly way. I just refuse to stoop to their level, nor have it appear to others that I am ignoring her.

Anyone want to tell me I am wrong? If so, what would you suggest?
