Who Has a Sleep Number Type Bed?

I posted on the "Furniture" forum, but had few responses.

How are these beds different from the cheap air mattresses people use for camping, extra beds, etc. (Aside from costing $2000! LOL)

I'm 120 lbs; DH is 185. When we lie on new mattresses they feel like trampolines -- I just bounce around on top. Dealers say they are built that way for America's 'heavy' population, and that we need to buy one with a pillowtop.

However...our current mattress is HOT due to the pillowtops on each side.

What are my options for a suportive mattress that's not a 'hotbed'? Wool pillowtops?

I'd like to get away from buying mattresses that rely on foam because the foam breaks down in a few years, leaving indents where your fanny lies. Who wants to spend $2000 every few years for new mattresses? (Talking King, or actually a pair of X-Long Twins used as a King in our case. BTW we are Seniors and I have osteo-arthritis.)
