They certainly would give an unexpected contrast to a wooden farm table. However, I think these chairs are best left on the patio.

They are very pretty chairs! They probably will be a little bit heavy & cumbersome, however. But if you really love them, how about adding a glass top table to them instead?

I already have a farm table that used to serve in our eat-in kitchen. I was thinking of painting the base, restaining the top, and getting some new chairs to replace our old dining set which is coming unglued & beyond repair. But a glass top table is a very pretty idea! Hmmm...

Well I wouldn't like the outdoor feel they'd give in my dining room and I don't do anything formal. However, I always think it matters what the one living with them thinks and if you like them then go for it. I agree though I'm not seeing it working with a farmhouse table, but a glass table might be better. That would get you a bit more of a bistro feel.

I think they look a bit cumbersome and "busy" because they all have arms. There would be too much 'going on' with having all the chairs with arms. It works on a patio because there is no other decor to compete with and a patio is in an open area. Metal chairs might be noisy moving them around in a dining room. The cushions look rather cheap and not very substantial. The style does not lend themselves to a farmhouse look with the graceful curve of the legs and arms. I never seen patio chairs "work" for a dining room and I have seen people try it. They are either so heavy OR so light weight that guests have difficulty moving them properly.

Maybe if you could get them without arms and add beefier cushions? And plastic sliders on them so they don't make noise or tear up your floors. I guess we would have to see the table that you plan to use with them to form an concrete opinion. Patio chairs could be a good idea but I don't think these ones are going to work with a farmhouse table and there are better chairs out there to consider.

The chairs are really pretty, for that matter the whole set is. IMO they are outdoor chairs and I personally would not want them inside. I also don't really think they would work with a farm table.

But, get them for a patio as they are beautiful.

I'm not sold on the farmhouse table idea either. But I've got one that's not being used amd just thought I could make it do.

Still, we're putting in a humongous window in the DR, so the room will have an indoor/oudoor feel. And I have a love/hate relationship with the current wallpaper in the dining room, and this would be a good excuse to strip it and paint the room a prettier color. That & a new rug would eliminate visual fussiness. I've always wanted a round table, I could move the black iron chandelier to the DR, and, well, you can see where this is going.

Well, I think they might work. Cottagey designs sometimes incorporate outdoor furniture, so maybe you could, too. It really depends on what else you have for furniture in the room, I should think. I'm not sure I'd use the patio table with them, then it would really look like the whole thing belongs outside. Maybe you could salvage a couple of your wooden chairs, to put at the heads of the table, with matching cushions? Maybe even pillows on the chairs to soften the look.

Can you bring these home to try out & return if needed? I bet the price is great this time of year. Your plan for the large window sounds great. The whole indoor/outdoor feel you mentioned could let these chairs work- lots of informal natural elements, texture.

I think it would be a pretty look for spring and summer, and then you could move some more woody chairs into that room for winter and fall. There's nothing like change and change is good and can be refreshing. I can see that farm table on a pretty needlepoint rug with these chairs and soft light coming in the window, a bouquet of fresh cut flowers and soup and sandwich dinner, a glass of lemonade, some sherbet and light chatter.

I was just flipping through an old Architectural Digest, one of their 100 Great Designers editions, and looks like lots of the great designers used all arm chairs with their dining room settings. And some of the chairs look like garden furniture to me, so the concept can't be that weird! Cattail, that's a good idea about trying & returning. There's a Smith & Hawken nearby. Hope they have these chairs there.

Not feelin the chairs for indoors. I think they're gorgeous, but not right for your table. The lines are all wrong, and they look too delicate for a farm house table.

I'm also pretty casual in my decorating but don't think I'd use these outdoor chairs inside my dining room. I'm also not visualizing that they would work well with a farm table.

With that being said, I really like the set and, from your posts, can tell that you really want to use the chairs, so I say go for it!

I would not choose these really lovely chairs with a farm table. I just don't think they are the right style. Often styles can be mixed--but I don't think these are the "right" mix.

The elements of surprise and contradiction are two of the things that make decorating more fun and less predictable and anyone can pair glass with wrought iron but it takes someone with a vision to pull it off with a farm table and I bet you can do it with aplomb.

I think the farm table is what will make these chairs work. The simple lines of the table with the interesting backs of these chairs peeking over it, and your black iron chandelier bringing in another metal element, well, I'm smitten.

Being metal, the chairs are informal, like the farmhouse table, and the lines of them are simple. Elegant, but simple. And they would both be tied together by the color black (maybe you'd want to paint the top of the table, too?). You mentioned a round table with a tablecoth, but to me the strong presence, maybe the solidity, of the wood plays such a big role, and provides great contrast. And wow, Patricia's vignette. I'm jealous that I'm not in your boat to play around with this!
