I totally forgot to share the story of Something Old!! A few weeks ago I found a small box at the bottom of my regular jewelry box. It was full of trinkets and costume jewelry I'd never seen before. Nothing special looking. So I start asking mom about all these costume rings and things I couldn't identify, and if she knew where the box came from, but she had no idea where any of it came from either. Then something catches her memory... This locket. 8 years ago grandma's apartment complex burned down entirely. No one was hurt, but grandma lost everything. In her closet she had a queen size comforter bag FULL of 7 generations of pictures, all burned away!! Mom hasn't seen this locket since she was younger, so there is still no telling how I ended with it, but inside are two pictures. This is my grandpa Irving (who passed away when I was a baby), and grandma Ruth (who I adored and passed away of cancer not long after the fire). This picture was taken ON THEIR WEDDING DAY! It will be tied to my bouquet, because we're convinced grandma reached out to be part of the wedding. :)

I was also married in 1987 and my gown was preserved until i opened it prior to our 25th wedding anniversary and dh and I also had photos taken -- I was thrilled it fit! The style is something my daughters would never favor (it was the 80s!) and the sizing wouldn't work either. My daughters have said they'd like to take a piece of it and attach it or incorporate it to their own, when the day comes. I love that idea. I also love the idea of making something else with the leftover fabric. We don't have Christmas trees or christenings so those options won't work but I do think there must be other options I've yet to think of. Thank you for the thread and, for me, this is one item I'm happy I've kept.

Well, my experience going up to my wedding site this weekend taught me a few things. It was in the 90's and I wore a short sleeved polyester dress. I've decided to eschew as much polyester as possible, it just doesn't breathe as well and doesn't feel great against my skin. Anything fitted and polyester is out, as well as any type of poly lace against my skin. I am going to try and stick with cotton, rayon or linen or a blend at least, and find something that can be joined with some kind of jacket or shrug or what not if it is cooler. Not even 3/4 sleeves for the actual dress. I also realized I do want something in a light color and lacy at least in some ways, something that does say "wedding" so the darker colors are out. A pale floral mix might not be too bad. I have tried on literally over a dozen dresses, and when doing that online, is kind of a pain with all the returns. It seems like what I want shouldn't be that difficult to find, something nice but practical, natural fibers, light color. But when I do find it, my size is usually sold out, and even one size up. I am size 12, the most common one. Maybe I will have to go with custom made, or "bespoke" as they say in Great Britain.

For dh's spot, I think a PCP could have done the biopsy and if the results are positive, then go to a dermatologist. It's a 45 min drive to the area of specialists we go to. I need to mention something else which is part of my question about PCP's. I've mentioned I have restless leg syndrome, and I've had it since my 20's. About 15 years ago I finally mentioned it to my late doctor, the one who did the biopsy on me, and he immediately gave me a prescription to take before bed. It was a life saver, because I had no idea a medicine would stop it. My new doctor let me continue the prescription but now I have to take a half pill more a day if I want to lay down to read during the day. My RL hits immediately, even when I'm not sleeping. At my appt. last week he upped the med by a half pill a day. Because I did a lot of research online about RLS I know there are other meds to take and I asked if I could try another one. I could tell he was looking it up on the computer and then he said to me, "I'm going to refer you to a neurologist because I'm not familiar with the medication." Then he continued to tell me they'd probably do an overnight sleep study/whatever. I looked at him and said I'm not going. Referring me to two specialists in one visit? Why couldn't he research the meds, or call his buddy the specialist where they make more money because of the referral and simply ask him what would be a good med for his patient? I'm not a doctor but I found that to be lazy on his part. He still referred me and I had to tell the lady no when she called.
