I posted my story about my LG FD refrigerator problem in another thread back in December. My story is very much like so many described in the link below: LG EZ-bake oven link... So in my last post about this, I mentioned that they came and replaced all the melted parts and the problem appeared to be fixed. Well, about a month and a half ago, it started happening again. The light inside the fridge just wouldn't go out. Luckily, I had replaced the dual 60w bulbs with 13w cfl which at least prevented melting/burning parts and fire. I called them back and scheduled another service. This time the service guy just didn't show up. No call. No visit. Just a wasted vacation day. Then, a week after my scheduled service, even though I still had not heard from LG, the problem went away again. For the last month, it's been coming and going. Every time I close the fridge door, I wonder, is the light going to go out this time? After two service calls, the problem still exists. I suspect the problem is not "fixable" and they know it. It's just cheaper for them to keep sending people out to replace a few parts that don't really fix anything than to recall all the models that suffer from this problem. So, I post this as a warning to anyone thinking about purchasing LG refrigerators. You might think, "they must have fixed it by now" but do you really want to take that chance when their are so many other brands out there. If you do decide to get an LG fridge, don't forget to pay your fire insurance premiums. If you already own one of these, I'd suggest replacing the bulbs immediately with CFL or LED bulbs. Since this problem re-occurred, I have found reasonably priced LED bulbs that fit and work well here: LED replacement bulb... Low wattage and runs cool so even if it stays on, no fire danger and no warm food. Even with the CFL bulbs, I noticed that the temp on the top shelves would rise noticeably if they stayed on. Added benefit of LED is they turn on instantly and actually perform better at low temps which is opposite of CFL. Hopefully, I'll be replacing this fridge well before the bulbs go out.

Thought I make a comment on something I found in relations to the inside bulbs staying on and possibly causing overheated compartments or even a fire on LG refrigerators. I have a Kemore refrigerator which is made by LG and I'm having problems with my freezer fan not coming on. Replaced the fan and found out that the fan was good all along and that it was a problem with the electronic control board (PCB). In the process of troubleshooting the problem I bought the wiring schematic of this particular refrigerator and came across an issue with the wiring schematic. When I physically dismantled the middle refrigerator vent and cool air track where the light bulb is mounted I found a thermal switch sensor mounted against the light bulb compartment. This thermal switch sensor is not depicted in the wiring schematic. I believe this was an after modification that was done. The thermal switch sensor should act as a safeguard against the light bulb compartment getting too hot and there by shutting off the circuit (current) to the light bulb. Evidently LG has been working at fixing the problem of the bulbs staying on while the doors of the refrigerator are closed. Now the only thing to do is find out if the refrigerator you have or are contemplating on buying has been modified with the thermal switch. Hope this helps.

We had the LG 2455 TROMM (Home Depot here doesn't care LG) for 1 week and just returned it this morning. The vibration and noise was too much for us. We had them come out and readjust the feet but that didn't really help. We went to a Bosch dishwasher a couple of years back because our old dishwasher was so noisy. All of a sudden with the new LG washing machine we couldn't hear our TV even with the laundry room door closed and the new washer on the spin cycle. Definitely a move in the wrong direction. We replaced with Kenmore Elite, and the first load was good & quiet. We'll see how it goes. We would have had to wait another month to try another LG - too much aggravation to take another chance, they sure look cool though.

As to other issues -- there is a lot written in online reviews that expresses distress over both Samsung and LG ice/water through the door dispensers... does anyone who has one of these new models want to weigh in on this? Have they fixed this problem in the newer models? Is it a true problem or a matter of initial installation? (They say that you need to flush 5 gallons of water out of the dispenser initially to get rid of air in the line and then you won't have a problem..... is this true?) Also, as to different refrigerator model designs -- they actually recommended online that the refrigerator design with the four quadrants and the vertical lineup of drawers and door bins in the freezer is easier for shorter people than the big cavernous bottom freezers. I am actually on the taller side (5'8"), and to be honest I do not like bending over at all LOL! But at least it might be easier to find things below in a freezer composed of door bins and drawers, versus one big bin even if it has two levels. What do people who have actively used these different types of refrigerators, think of the new refrigerators by LG and Samsung with the tiered organization versus the old French Door/Bottom Freezer design?
