Anybody own LG WM2233HW from Home Depot?

I've been looking at Bosch, Whirlpool/Kenmore, GE and LG.

Based on features, LG has the most band for the buck.

For service, I feel better about Whirlpool/Kenmore or GE.

Home Depot has this LG model at a great price, but I have not heard any opinions about this model.

The sales guy said LG's vibrate more than other brands

Any input would be appreciated.

I've got the LG Tromm Steamwasher and I love it! From HD, works perfectly. Doesn't vibrate, but it spins really fast.

The 2233 is not the steam model, but glad to know yours does not vibrate.

maybe i can help clear up some confusion here ive worked in the nusresry industry for 10 years now and i am a buyer for one of these types of chain stores, orchard supply hardware. truthfully, home depot, lowes, walmart, taget, all of these we all buy from similar if not the same sources as each other. now independent nurseries and garden centers, buy from the same growers as we buy from with one major difference, some do actually grom their own material to sell at a slightly higher profit. most chain garden centers are focused on one thing and that is turning the product so sitting on it and waiting for it to grow doesnt make good business sense especially when their space is entirely taken up for merchandise. alot of independent nurseries get their plants already grown and ready to go to the consumer, just like i buy them, the quality is the same because they come from the same grower, the same crop. the biggest difference in what the plant quality looks like is when the consumer goes to shop for the product. alot of times you go into a chain store and the plants are wilting the soil in the pot is dry and theres no clerk to be found or none that are knowledgeable. the key is to shop around, find that one place that caters to your needs and has the product selection and the quality you like, remember the plants when they come off the delivery truck are virtually the same its the finished product that counts look for a place that hass a friendly and knowledgeable sales staff and that keeps a clean and neat place to shop, one clue is to look at the way the employees are working, are they putting plants away or hanging out with other employees when much of the plants in the nursery are obviously dying from a lack of water? these are the places you should stter clear of. the places that do the right thing in these circumstances and that focus on making an enjoyable shopping experience for the consumer are the ones you should goto. price is definately a concern. most chain stores now do price matching so ask. so to answer the question. yeah go ahead and give home depot a shot if the satisfy your needs. go for it.

jeri - I was pretty certain the 980 didn't have a tilt draw to it. Not only did I tug on that puppy pretty good, one of the associates confirmed that the draw didn't tilt. Now here's what I'm thinking,... maybe the first run didn't have this feature and later models did. That's very very possible, because see some features on our GE that weren't included on the floor model. Example,... our full width delitray has three (3) temp (produce, deli & quick chill) settings and the one on Home Depot's floor only had the produce and deli settings. There's one other difference between our GE and the one on the floor, and that's the display. Our's has six individual and exposed buttons, the one on the floor has the same selection options but the buttons are under a thin plastic membrane type covering,... sorta like the difference between LG's 950 and 960 models. So it's quick possible 980's in the pipe and being delivered now do sport the tilt feature. Makes more sense than not I'll tell ya that! So far,... so good. We're liking it alot jeri. Such a relief not having any refrigerator drama for once. Well there is one thing that's got us scratching our heads and that's a pretty noticable warping effect going on with our doors. The stainless is very waving (not dents). Kinda reminds you of a Fun House mirror. But we've been in contact with GE and they've offered to order new doors for us. Think I'll take them up on that come Monday. Oh there's one other feature that's I've learned to appreciate on the GE,... the dual evaporator and fan feautre. I say 'learned' because I really had no idea how important this feature was until I spoke to a few reps at a high-end appliance shop in our area about the model. Seems as though it's a big deal having a system that doesn't force the freezer and frige sections to share air. Apparantly most boxes in our class generate freezer temp air, and through a series of vents and ports, is able to warm the air up a little to service the frige section. The GE, along with it's corporate Samsung twin, keeps these two sections separate and with it's dual evaporators and fans are able to independently generate air at the proper temp to service each section. So the air in the freezer never gets to see what the inside of the frige looks like. It's supposed to amoung other things, reduce odor transfer, freezer burns and temp instability. Now if this is true,... then great. Will this feature have me sleeping better at nights? Nah,... not really. But I guess it's nice to know that we're sharing something normally only the big boys can boast about,... like Thermadore. In the end, I'm only concerned about keeping my beer and the kid's milk cold. So yes,... we're enjoying it. Let's see,... anything else? Nah, that's about it. It's an icebox for God's sake! LOL! Oh, Shawn wants me to include that the LG is seems more roomier to her. It's not bogged down with an icemaker in the frige section or the full width deli pantry. I'll agree with that, even though the LG is rated at 24.7 cu ft. and the GE is a wopping 25.8. The LG does seem more cavernous. There was a point when they were taking out the LG and bringing in the GE I was able to do a quick side-by-side,... and yes I'll agree. aprince - I've heard of the poor customer service,... that's been widely talked about. But you're the first I've heard to rate the LG as junk. Maybe it is good fortune that we made our final perch on the GE. I've heard other also say they used to be Goldstar, but there was another company's name that stood for the 'L' that I can't remember. Still, if I were as wealthy as you guys, I still would have opted for the 980,... it's just a good looking box.

Stonemark Granite kitchen Countertop from Home Depot

I have purchased Stonemark countertops from Home Depot and love the look, color, and feel of my countertops but my experience with our area installer has been very distressing. One section of the countertop has a 1/2 inch by 1 inch chip and another section has a scratch in the middle of the island under a direct light. The imperfections either were there when the granite was pulled from the truck or were incurred during installation. When I went to sign off on the installation I noted that I was unhappy with the chip and the installer said that they would not replace the piece. They only offered to refabricate. I had him refill the chip twice with different colors and it still looks awful. I can deal with the scratch being filled as it seems minor compared to the chip. It has been 9 business days and no one at Innovative Stone will return my phone calls. I have purchased $25K of cabinets, flooring, and countertops ($6K of Stonemark) for my kitchen remodeling project from Home Depot and it all has been a fairly good experience up until this install. Innovative Stone is not even responding to calls made from my Home Depot expeditor. I am in Ohio so it might just be my local installer but beware. I realize that a chip is not covered by warranty but how can they install a countertop with such a large chip and consider it a good business practice? Does anyone know how the refabrication process works? I am assuming that they will grind the stone where the chip is and feather it back into the edge of the piece. The chip is on the front of the countertop where it meets another piece of granite. I am concerned that if I agree to have them refabricate this piece it will look odd and then two pieces of the countertop are affected.

My experience with HD and Stonemark has been excellent. We had originally decided to do a quick kitchen facelift after my kids bought me a kitchenaid mixer for my birthday, lol. I really wanted an undermount sink, and so our journey began. We initially wanted to go with Wilsonart HD laminate but I wasn't too fussy for the sink choices and I felt their colors were more designed to go with SS appliances, which I didn't have and wasn't interested in. At the kitchen design store we then saw Granite Tiles. Hmm, I was intrigued and I must admit they looked gorgeous in the display. When we rec'd the final quotes for install (no DIY) we were a tad taken back. So things stalled. My husband happened in HD one snowy day in January and called me about a sale there. So just to placate him I jumped in the car and met him at the local HD to look at Granite. , knowing I would be disappointed, we never considered Granite at all due to the budget. So I started browsing, the great price was on the 2cm granite, not the 3cm. The selection of 5 choices, well none of them wowed me. So I start looking at the 3cm samples and found a few that intriged me. Well that made the price jump from about 47 dollars a SF to about 79 a SF. However it was on sale as well, 10% off, additional $300, and free upgrade on the edging. And of course the sale was over in 3 days. The rough estimate including the installation of an undermount sink in a B sample actually was only 300 more than my quotes on HD laminate and the Granite Tiles!! I left with my head spinning, and the next day went to another HD. Again looked at samples talked to him regarding 2cm vs 3cm. Went through the sample box from Stonemark and found one they did not have on display, Vecchio Oro. Really really liked it. My main concern was dealing with HD. Is the quality there? Will they be there if something goes wrong? Will they still be in business in a few weeks, lol? During this time is when I happened upon GW site. Drank a lot of coffee and read, read, and reread all the great posts on Granite. We went back to our original HD, and I asked about viewing the slabs. We live in Western NY, the fabricator for HD was Innovative Stone out of Syracuse. We were told we could go view the slabs. Wednesday afternoons only. Since Syracuse is 2 1/2 hours away and it was the middle of winter, We decided not to, I held my breath as I wrote the check. Then I went home and started to second guess myself. True to what I was told at HD the fabricator called me 3 days later to come and template, I had to stall as I hadn't even picked out a sink and faucet, they were gracious and just told me to call them when I was ready. So 3 weeks later I called them and they were here 48 hours later to template. The guy was very nice, I asked him every question in the granite install post by buehl, he explained everything as he templated, and measured. What they would do at the install, what was my responsibility. First he measured and templated by hand, and then used the laser template afterward. There are more positive points in this templating that I won't go into as its already a novel, for my first post, lol. 2 weeks later my install, of granite I never really saw. I was nervous when they pulled up and had to keep myself from running out to the truck to look as soon as they pulled up. Let me tell you the 2 guys from Innovative Stone were absolutely wonderful. The color of my granite was a surprise to me. Yes I could see it was what I had picked, but there was more gold in it then the 3 inch sample. But the good news is that I absolutely love it. They had a few obstacles to overcome in my 20 year old kitchen, but they worked quietly, explaining everything to me as they did. I think the install took them a couple hours more than planned, but didn't leave till everything was perfect. Its been about 5 weeks now, and everytime I walk in my kitchen I am just so thrilled my kids bought me a kitchen aid mixer and led me to this. So totally an impulse buy with great results! Now if I could only decide what color to paint the rest of the kitchen, but that's another novel, lol.

Hi ranger_mark, I don't have the 2233 model but I have the WM0642H (it is also tromm)and it works like a dream.
I also have the extended warranty from Home Depot (from where my husband bought it from) and so far they are very good at making sure all questions and worries are answered and dealt with.
Studly_1 is right, they do spin really fast, almost to the point of vibrating. Do not be put off by that. Give them a try (you can always take them back) and you will see a big difference in how clean your clothes and linens come out. Best of luck in your choice.

That may be true, but also depends on where they will be installed.

We have the WM2688 on a pedestal, and it does vibrate (but doesn't walk) because of the high-speed spin, but it's on a concrete basement floor.

There may be problems with ANY FL that's not on concrete.

Second floor wood floors would be a lot worse.

LG service people may be few and far between, but parts are now avaliable from www3.sears.com

and their SERVICE manuals PDF's are online if you need them.

I've been to that site, and cannot find a listing for WM2233. I also can't get that model # to work on the sears parts website.

I got the 2233 last week and have only run about 6 or 7 loads but it has been great for all of those. By the way, I got an "out of box" one that somebody had returned. If you check the on line discussions far and wide you can understand why some folks get frightened off of the front loaders and take them back. They must be maintained properly...leave the door open when you are done for the day and preriodically clean the tub. The spin cycle is fast and can really get vibrating if out of balance but no walking seen lateley. Aslo, the spin cycle is adjustable so you can slow it down if you want. I have been a front loader convert for the last 10 years or so and this is our second. You're right, the service manual for the 2233 is not on line but be persistent and you can find the user manual and speck sheet. It specs very closely to the WM0642H. Talk to them at Home Depo about dropping the price. Ours was marked 799 on sale for 699 and I got it for 520 because I took the $80 3 year service plan to make darling wife happy with the out of box deal. Total out the door was 600 plus tax. Still a great deal from all that I have read.

Model 2233 has the spin sense mode which is supposed to help minimize vibration during spinning. Not sure exactly how it accomplishes this. Check out the manual and see what it says.

My wife has concerns about the smaller door openings on the LG dryers versus the duets. Has this been an issue for you with large dryer loads?

I see that the model WM2233 isn't listed on those sites...

Dryer door size:
I don't know the size door on the Duet,
my LG dryer door inside opening is 15 1/2 "

We replaced a 9 year old Kenmore FL with the LGWM2233HW and the LG 2233 has a much larger door than we were used to with Kenmore. I just went and measured and it is at least 15"... no problems for the large loads I have been doing but my DW and daughter have asked that I don't put such big loads in as they don't like dealing with all those cloths coming out at once. Agreed here to cut the laod down to more manageable size. Truth be knownst...it was more of a "bigger cuz we can" thing with me anyway so the medium big loads are fine. The door opening has not been an issue.

What Home Depot did you see the LG WM2233HW marked for $799.00. I was at my local Home Depot(San Francisco area) today and it was marked $899.00.
I wasn't aware that you can negotiate the price down at Home Depot. Do you know if that is true nationwide?

You can get the user manual for the 2233 directly from the LG website. I just downloaded the pdf and saved it, as I just bought a 2233.

We have the LG WM2233 and we love them! Absolutely no vibration issues and we live in a manufactured home. They are also on pedestals. Our top loaders wanted to walk across the room and shook the whole house on spin cycle. These are simply awesome! Clothes come out clean and I can do a huge load on speed wash and speed dry and have it all done in 1 hour. They are the cadillac of front loaders as far as I'm concerned. Got them at Best Buy in titanium color.

A local appliance store in Austin, TX has the WM2233 and DLE5977 in titanium for $1399 for the set!! They told me that these are new-in-box, factory closeouts with full warranty. By far the best deal I have found anywhere.

We had the LG 2455 TROMM (Home Depot here doesn't care LG) for 1 week and just returned it this morning. The vibration and noise was too much for us. We had them come out and readjust the feet but that didn't really help.

We went to a Bosch dishwasher a couple of years back because our old dishwasher was so noisy. All of a sudden with the new LG washing machine we couldn't hear our TV even with the laundry room door closed and the new washer on the spin cycle. Definitely a move in the wrong direction.

We replaced with Kenmore Elite, and the first load was good & quiet. We'll see how it goes. We would have had to wait another month to try another LG - too much aggravation to take another chance, they sure look cool though.

I just got the 2233 in today to my new remodeled laundry room. Make sure the feet are balanced and after checking with a level run a 6 pound of clothes throuh and when it gets to the spin cycle, you will know if you can deal with the vibration.

Yes, there are a few interesting sounds that this washer makes during the various cycles, but the results are FANTASTIC.

Even my 16 year old son wants to do his wash now.

I would give this washer a 4.5 out of 5.

Also, get the heavy duty GE water hose and make sure they are connected properly. Also, I added a GFCI plug and the LG does not trip it.

I am in exact same position, but a year later. Any that can respond that owns this washer do you still like it? It seems pretty much all reviews have been positive. Have any issues come up in the past year?

Sale at Home Depot ends today so any information will be gladly appreciated.

I have tromm 2496 stacked without broblems. No walking and no extra vibrations or noises other than those to be expected w/normal operation. My laundry room is next to our bedroom and right now washer is going and I can hear my BF breathing in the bed, clock ticking,no door closed. I actually love to fall in sleep w/the humming and water noises. It does not interrupt our movie watching either.
Maybe some people are just too sensitive?

I've had the LG 2233 set for 8 months and I love it. It's on pedestals and much quieter then my old TL. It does a great job.

The new dryers take a little getting used to, they don't get as hot as the older versions, and they stop when the clothes are just a bit damp. There is a button to control dryness, the "Normal" setting is just a bit damp so I usually use the "More Dry" button and they come out completely dry. It takes a little getting used to, but does a good job.
