My new duvet has a few recent stain spots. My plan to remove them is to mix a bit of OxiClean with a bit of water to make a think paste to put on the spots. Sure hope this removes the spots.

When I was buying blinds, including some motorized, I bought them on-line. I made a spreadsheet of the internet sellers and their prices for the sizes I wanted. At any given time, one internet seller may be offering discounts that others don't. Sometimes they all have sales on one item because the manufacturer is offering a discount. Comfortex had rebates all summer, but that ended 8/31. A lot of people buy pricier window coverings for public rooms in the house and less expensive ones for, say, guest rooms. Take a trip down to Potomac Mills and look at Ikea's selection of inexpensive blinds. And one moving day tip: take along a roll of waxed paper and some scotch tape. It will come in handy on the bathroom windows.

I've ordered from Smith & Noble on many occasions and have always been pleased with their service and products to include shutters and wood blinds. Just today I ordered from Blindsgalore.com for the first time because I want shutters for my guest bedroom NOW and they have the best deal going --- through tomorrow, sale 5% off + 20% discount. Time will tell if I can recommend them though. I don't think their site is as user friendly as S&N but it was easy to use nonetheless. My advise: 1. Read everything about how to measure and options. Then measure at least three (3) times before ordering because there are no refunds. 2. Never pay full price/shipping. There are always discounts to be had! Best of luck, Laura

Removing the quarter round molding seems like a solution to gaining more depth. But after looking at it more closely (see pic # 3) the vertical molding between the panes actually butts up against the quarter round at the top. So there would be a gap at the top where the quarter round was removed. However I believe the gap would probably be well hidden by the headrail. I haven't done it yet but it kind of seems like removing the quarter round could open up a can of worms/problems. Be just my luck something would get damaged and I'd end up calling a window installer for repair. And here's another thing, if we did go with the 2 in. faux wood blinds, even with the added inch of depth gained by removing the quarter round, they still won't be flush and with the window opening. And it looks like most of the blinds have a minim inside depth requirement of 3/4 of an inch. So now I'm thinking what's the point of removing the quarter round?
