This is all music to my ears. There will be cabinets on either side of the sink, so there will be other stability. Mydreamhouse, we thought of eliminating the cabinet altogether too but we like the idea of having a bottom and back to it also. It's IKEA cabinets, so we can afford the worst case scenerio. We checked the installation manual out and we will have to cut out some, but it should be minimal. This is going to be a nice utility room, and I didn't want to do something that would minimize it's look. Nicole: If the end pieces I pictured above were missing, you'd be looking at an exposed cabinet style and the top and bottom rail on each end and a hole between the three. The drawer end covers the void and makes your eye continue the line from the doors upward. A flush piece in the void would have to fit perfectly, be finished matched, would not continue the line, and would therefore look stupid. You're not going to find any pictures because no one would ever go through that much work for something that's not going to look good. Here's a full size 33" apron sink properly mounted in a 36" cabinet. The distance from the cabinet end to the sink apron end will be 3" on your job, not the 1 1/2" pictured here which I admit doesn't look too bad. That sink was replaced by this short apron Elkay Quartz Luxe. The bottom of the apron now lines up with the adjacent drawer bottom, and there is virtually no cabinet face exposed which I think looks better. I made the customer find a factory painted color match trim (you provide, you agree color matches) which I installed above and flush with the top of the middle rail to fill the gap. That didn't have to fit nearly as nicely as flush side fillers would have to, because only the person reaching under the sink will ever see it.

I hve 2 3 inch spice pullouts on each side of my bumped out 27 inch deep sink base. Mine were ordered from my cabinet company though. I really like them alot. However, the bumped out sink makes me lose the back 3 inches or so of the pullout on the right since I can't access it from the other side. Not a big deal since the other one is empty. I have small spacers on each side of it since it did seem like it was going to rub on the sides with use. These are not pulled out all the way.

Did you order an apron front sink base or just a regular sink base? A regular sink base's doors are too tall for an apron front sink and when one retrofits an apron front sink into an existing situation, they usually eliminate the doors and put in a curtain under the sink. If you want a farm sink, and haven't ordered a farm sink base, then stop the order, pay any restocking fee, and get a farm sink base. In the end, it will be cheaper and look better than attempting to hack into a brand new sink base.
