Sad and concerned

Hi, everyone. I wanted to see if anyone can give me some pointers on how to explain to my daughter that her stepdad wont be around anymore. She is only five. He made it clear that he only wanted to see our son, his bio. child. I am sad for me but crushed for her because she really loves him. :(

How long have you been married? How long has he been in your DD's life?

I'm sorry. If he has been the consistent father figure in her life, and seeing as how you DO have a child, HER brother, together---he sounds like an @$$. :(

I would definitely get her into a counselor b/c I think this could potentially become a big abandoment issue. I think you need a professional to help you with this one.

We hooked up when my daughter was about 15 months. We got married shortly after. My daughter's dad is hardly around and my husband, soon to be ex, has been the male figure in her life. My son is two years old. I feel horrible for my kids and how they are going to take everything. I thought that he was my knight in shining armor. We started having problems when he started his job a year ago that requires him to be away from home 4 days out of the week.

Kim Rupert wrote about marigold is a spider-mite magnet and as if these flowers spontanenously generate spider mites! My Eglantyne was right next to a marigold! I could not get rid of spider mite until I moved the rose to a different location and alcohol its infected part. According to Field Roebuck, garlic chives deter both spider-mites and aphids. Garlic chives is very invasive and time-consuming to kill. Cutting the flowers off is a must, before they seed everywhwere! If not, you'll spend eternity digging zillions of tiny bulbs. Hi JeriJen: it's amazing that miticide can melt a plastic spoon. I was spraying a hornet nest, and the chemical got on my t-shirt, went through the fabric and burnt my skin. The hornet and wasp spray is cheap, like $2, but extremely poisonous. One guy didn't wash his hands after spraying, ate a sandwich, had a seizure and went into a coma. He had a near-death-experience, and was hospitalized for 6 months. He had to learn how to walk all over again. They should ban insecticides altogether. I told my hubby how the wasp spray burnt my skin, he went out there and dismantled the nest with a stick. It did the job, no need for spray.

I had a pretty sad law 1.5 years ago when I bought this house. I really knew how bad when the HOA sent me a "love note", "fix the bad areas now". Actually, the worse was the strip of lawn between the sidewalk and street. I ripped up that area and dumped 4 bags of black cow, then some alfalfa pellets, spread it out, water, then put down Lowes sod. It is really a vibrant dark, thick green this year!. That black cow is a bit expensive 4.90 per bag, but it seemed to work well. - Mowing at a higher setting really helps the weed control and my lawn looks better. - I put down CGM a month ago, which might had been a bit early but from what I read. It takes a few years for it to really help with weed control. I bought it off the web, 68 dollars for 60 lbs. Can't find it locally. - Tomorrow I will get soy-bean-meal (50lbs for 18 dollars) and put it down next week. - I did get some fungus in one area that does not get a lot of light and used corn meal to control it. Results were mixed but that area is finally growing back. Organic seems to be not so difficult so I'm going to try and stick with it for at least 5 years. The alfalfa is easy to get, but I have to order the SBM. The CGM is the most difficult to get here in FL. Good Luck!

Looking on Texas A&M, it says it is "Physiological Leaf Roll", caused by drought or other environmental stress. I will have to really watch my watering practices and calculate how much water I am really giving them. Maybe I thought I was doing a good job and really wasn't. -the seedlings were at about 65ish degrees. -I forgot to mention the small fan that was blowing on them... -the peat pots were small, 2-3 inches. The roots were not coming out of the bottoms. They were so tiny! I will not use these again. They dry out to quickly. I had to water them a lot to keep them evenly watered. I will use clean plastic pots next time. -I just realized I did a silly thing. I thought I had bought a bag of Fox Farm's soil less mix, but I just looked at the bag, and it is their Ocean Forest POTTING soil. It has sphagnum moss, perlite/vermiculite (there's a difference?), humus, and a little sand, plus the ridiculous proprietary things (guano, earthworm castings, blurb-blurb-blurb) that I paid too much for. pH of 6.5. -the planter boxes are massive. Made of 4x4s four high, rebar pinning them to the earth, lined with food safe plastic, weed mat underneath (which was stupid in hindsight, what weed in their right mind is getting through 2 1/2 feet of soil?) They are 4ft by 6 ft, and one is 4 ft by 12 ft. They are probably going to be there until I'm 86 years old. My husband does things very thoroughly. :) Our yard's soil is mostly rock and granite. I'm fairly certain there is a concrete and landscape rock cemetery back there; I'm constantly hitting something. -The Pioneer mix was delivered in a big truck. It grows grass wonderfully. - The seeds I got from Jung sprouted, but never really took off. They lost their first set of leaves, got 4-5 branches with nice leaves, but they were just not as robust as I've seen them. I was afraid to set them out too early, so I think I remember setting them out the 2nd week of May sometime to harden. I let them harden till the last week of May, letting them stay out for a few hours and then setting them inside at night. I was getting married the first week in June, so they had to be out one way or another by then. The store bought plants I planted when we got back, around the 3rd week in June. Too late? - The rooting hormone I used was a liquid mix that you dilute. Now that I think about it, I don't think it was a hormone per say, "Root Stimulator" was what it was called. I used it on my transplanted annual beds, just a quick water, or with my new dormant strawberry plants, soaked in a mixture and planted. I think it was just a 4-10-3 fertilizer to give a little boost. Does it work? I honestly couldn't say yay or nay. Maybe I was so stressed out with the upcoming wedding and planning that I didn't pay enough attention to the little things. I never saw any wilting, but that doesn't mean that the seedlings weren't stressed at some point and I didn't notice. This year I will be like a mama hawk! (I feel like I'm in a Sherlock Holmes chapter with all these questions! This is awesome!)

That is horrifying! Especially since we often go to public pools, and two of my kids tend to spend most of their time underwater. I was really glad for the slide show link which showed pictures of unsafe drain covers - now that I know what to look for, I'll check the covers when we swim. I don't know... I've never been in those shoes.
But my heart goes out to you. I'm currently on another side of that sort of coin and it sucks.

I agree with Love and Mom2, a counselor could probably help you and DD rebuild your hearts. Do you have an EAP through your workplace or counseling through your insurance?

little girl will need therapy (I am not sure if she is old enough?), i don't know how and what to explain. But you and she will need someone to help with it. so sorry...how sad...I worry that it would make her unwilling to let other people close to her...did he explain why he wants only see his son? what is the motivation? doesn't he have feelings for her?

He says he loves her but he says that his main concern from now on is only our son... I thought that was very bogus of him and it killed the last of the love that I had for him. My children come first and always will. We had money problems from the get go but it got worse when he started making a lot more money than me. I work a 40 hour a week job and I care for the kids when he wasn't here. He said I needed to get a job that paid me more money or go to college...who is he to tell me what to do. These type of moves have to come from me not him. Any way to make the long story short, it was about money and now my precious babies were exposed to a jerk.

you were working 40 hours a week but he was telling you to find a better paid job or go to college? what a moron. one thing is to encourage your partner to get education and support them in their accomplishments, the other thing is to tell them what to do. cheap jerk. you are better off. as about your girl, make sure you show her a lot of love and support and maybe talk to her pediatrician if there is any type of therapy for such young children. also if you have any other family, make sure she is involved with them. and keep her busy with activities.

Geo, There is a group for children going thru what your DD is called Rainbows. Its for children grieving loss, thru death or divorce. There are chapters throughout the US and Canada.Maybe you can look it up in the phonebook or google your area to see if there is a chapter close to you..It helped my niece and nephew go thru the loss of their dad. Good luck..

How sad:( J and have discussed what would happen if we ever divorced as far as the girls are concerned and I chose to still be involved. We arn't planning on splitting but it's good to talk about these things.

The girls mom probably won't be alive much longer and it would be horrible for them to lose two "mama's". If (when) BM dies from her condition I plan to adopt them so I will have legal rights in the event something happens to J.

I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. I know you are so worried for your little ones heart:( Give her tons of love and I would totally look into the Rainbows group Dotz mentioned. I'm going to look into that also for the girls.

CHin up and love that little girl with all your might. She is too good for that man anyway.
