You have certainly been a busy woman Kathleen. Those red/white checked dishes of your's are some of my favorites. And the red chargers are so perfect with them and so is the red handled silverware. Those are some fancy dish towels--love them. That salad looks yummy and sounds so fresh--and I really love fresh pineapple when I can find a good ripe one. Looks like everyone had a great time at the beach too. Hope you get a chance to relax a bit now that the company is gone and things might slow down a bit. TFS. Luvs

Since our powder room is the one that guests use, I am a bit crazed by the idea of the shared towel. Especially during cold season, but really any time. After we redecorated ours, and I put up nice wallpaper and there was no way I was hanging a ring or bar on it. I have a pile of paper hand towels in a little acrylic holder on the vanity. Each person gets their own. Plus, the ring or bar just never looked right, my powder room is small. The previous owners had one in a place that reminded me of a handicap bar--it was always in the way. When there is no company expected, we have a regular hand towel that we just nicely lay on the vanity.

Hostalover, Somehow I missed the closeup photo of your bathroom toile when I was responding with my post. Yes, you're right, it's not Rustic Life, Jamestown, Country Life or any other frequently seen toile pattern. It's very similar to the fabric pattern I used for my daughter's wedding, though hers was in blue and ivory, and unfortunately unique enough that finding matching fabric a year later was an impossibility, sigh.... At least you know that what you have is not something you'll see everywhere else! I love the colors you've used in your bedroom and bathroom thus far, especially the wall color! I do think that the black and white gingham would be a perfect companion for white curtains, though I'd go with a smaller check size if it were mine. You also might consider making a black and white gingham shower curtain, trimmed with whatever accent color you select for your bedroom curtains, or trim the existing white curtain with some gingham. This would pull the two rooms together. I'm sure that whatever you decide, it will look luscious, and I can't wait to see the results! Heidi

LOL Vj I've been on bedrest and there is nothing else to do but wander the forums (I'm having aol issues....I can't get my freaking email and itp's making me nuts LOPL) p(=moy sion is heul0ping type) poiuytrewwwwq You know, if you could find the perfect, just barely silver gray for those walls and leave the ceiling white I think the space would really be stunning. Then pop in the blue in your bedding and accents....yummy :) And then those wonderful costco fluffy sheep skin rugs for the floor to break up the blue and add an amazing texture :) LOL Yes we're playing in the house. I finished phase one of the dining room a month or so ago. When I found out I was going to lose the babies I gave up my bedrest and have been tearing down the parlor now :) Lemonaid from lemon's ya know. I'm going DEEP blue in there and can't wait to get the paint on the wall. DS encourages me by pulling paper off whenever he can reach it. :) It's a family sickness LOL No we didn't get the silver sink, but we're going to put one in here since the butlers pantry went missing in the 40's (we'll replace it). I loved that sink :) You know for your room...you could find a great window frame with glass in it and just frost it and hang it behind the bed. It would look gorgeous, maybe even do it in a distressed blue (dark dark dark) with white over the top so just a bit of the blue shows??? In my anchorage house I have a window frame with a picture I had blown up of the view (if there were a hole in the wall) on the inside...much cheaper than a muralist!! If our attic room weren't up in the attic I'd have taken it as our master...it's a few more steps than I want to do in the middle of the night when DS needs help but I do love the cozyness of the space. And now I must pull a space shuttle out of my arse....gad there's nothing like a sick 4 year old LOL He wants me to go get them in his other bedroom (in alaska) NOW!!!!

os, I know it's insulting when no one comments on a post, trust me I've been there !! lol....

I almost posted this sentence this morning:

a pet peeve of mine is decorated finger towels that the hostess doesn't want anyone to use because they are so pretty, lol....

Oh dear, mitch, I have those, but not finger :>/ They are antique tone on tones and all piled up ( neatly folded, actually)) across one towel bar. I consider them beautiful accents, and thank goodness, so do all my guests. There are plenty of other choices for hand drying...promise! Oh! OSH, think those towels are very pretty...thanks for posting. :>)

OSH, I like the Fragonard pattern, but not on the towels, sorry. I think too much of the design is cut off - the proportion feels wrong.

Mitch, I must admit I have them too in one of my 1/2 baths. I have paper guest towels for everyone to use and I always crumple up a couple and throw them in the wastebasket so that everyone will know that it is ok to use the paper towel.

The Fragonard towels are a bit much for me.

mitch: LOL--I wasn't bothered by that at all. :) I just realized that I actually started a thread about hand towels, and was a bit embarrassed.

les and deborah: I'm not searching for hand towels. Just thought they were kind of different. :)

The fragonard towels had to be washed in cold water as per the listing, I would assume the fabric trim would have to be ironed to look crisp and fresh again.

deborah, smart move, you wouldn't want anyone to try and flush one of those in the toilet.

Squirrel only for you, I would make sure to leave a piece of cheese in one of the paper napkins. LOL The adults do pretty well but I have to warn my DS's friends to use the paper! Here are my dressy towels.

Deborah, I love pretty towels too (actually I love pretty linens period!) and have towels that are also not to be used. In the main guest bath (off the great room), it is a full bath that rarely used. On the towel bar nearest the tub, I have pretty towels with embroidery. Near the sink I do have towels for guests to use. I need to get some of the paper towels for the holidays.

In our master bath I have towel rings beside each of our sinks, with pretty towels. Hubby and I don't use them and no one else ever uses our bathroom. We have a large linen closet in that area and hubby came up with a great towel hanging/drying idea, so towels we use are always in there.
