Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I have a couple of pkgs, of copper tubing. Does anyone have any idea's of what to do with it. Thanks alot.

You could make curtain rods, a 4 poster bed, a table, a pot rack, etc.

You can go to an extreme to try to cover all bases. There are several whole house water cutoff devices that can be installed. Two that come to mind are the flologic and watercop automatic valves. With these your remote water sensors can not only trigger an alarm code to your monitoring provider, but can also signal these devices to shut off all water to the house. With the right alarm (or more appropriately automation/security system) it could also take automated preemtive action and shut down the water line upon a power failure. All of this depends on everything happening right. What if the water sensor contacts get real dirty and are covered with a good layer of sticky dust/dirt? Will it still trigger? If your sensor is battery powered, did you remember to change the batteries on a scheduled basis? Where the leak occurs, will enough water reach the sensor to have it tigger? Etc, etc... The flologic seems interesting as it has some logic of it's own that "looks" for leaks. If it senses uncontrolled water flow beyond a period of time (which you set) it will trigger. I believe it can also be setup for some exception conditions and can be tied into a security/automation system where it automatically closes everything when you place you security system in the "away" state.

It definitely could and in fact the discoloration around that area and the pattern of the hole looked to me like an electrical arc pattern more than a pressure leak/blow from the inside. It just doesn't make any sense that that copper would fail with a "pop" in such short time after installation. I'm no expert, but the walls of the copper around that area look normal thickness and if it was a burst from internal pressure I would think the pattern seen would be more outward and (from what I've seen in past) linear, not in a clean arc like that. Fascinating. Hopefully others with more expertise will chime in and I'd have the whole unit looked at personally before I'd trust it - if there is something wrong with the copper the same thing could happen in your wall or somewhere else. If there's something wrong with the electrical wiring or unit itself, that could kill someone.

Yes. ;-) Both work fine. Choose PEX if you live someplace with water that corrodes copper. Choose copper if you don't have a PEX crimping tool. Use copper if the plumbing is visible. Some people trust push-fit fittings inside a wall, I'm not there yet. I've used them in some difficult to reach but exposed retrofits, we'll see. Too expensive for general use I think.

What size is your copper tubing? I bought the tiny tubing so that I can try making glass beads. http://www.pinzart.com/

I didn't make this teapot set, I found it on the internet and liked the idea. I love the pot and crystal. But I'm not crazy about the cup and saucer they chose to use.

Let us know what you end up doing with your copper.

I, also, have a few lengths of copper pipe scrap to use as I please... I'd love to build something for my garden, but not your average obelisk or arbor... any other ideas? I'm kind of leaning toward a small trellis, but I can't find anything except the more common types... the pipe I have won't lend itself well to bending into curls or the like... does anyone know of a website with photos I might get ideas from?

I just bought the most wonderful earring holder made out of copper tubing.

The copper tubing is twisted into a spiral and has a circular bottom so it stands flat. Copper wire was looped around the spiral to hold the earrings. A crystal is attached at the top (where the spiral ends)

Off the top of my head, I'm guessing the tubing was 1/2 inch.

Not sure how clear I was describing it, but I just love it!
