The saga continues.....

I am sure you all are getting sick of my posts, but yet again, I need advice!! I am sure you are all familiar with my current situation, and if not, scroll down on the board and you can catch up! Here is the latest and greatest.....

As you all know, FSD's biomom passed away in December. Her BM's mother (MGM-maternal grandma) has not seen or talked to FSD much over the past few years, and last saw her at BM's funeral. Fro (she is a lesbian) is not so great either. From what I have been told, MGM is not a great person, and her partner (she is a lesbian) is not so great either. Mind you, I was told all this by my FMIL, who is not always a great and accurate source of information. In Febuary, FSD's MGM was awarded visitation of her half brother, and now sees him 1 weekend a month.

Apparently today FSD's brother called and told my FMIL that he was at MGM's house and overheard her telling her partner that she was going to petition for visitation of FSD and also tell FSD that FDH is not her biodad. FMIL went and talked to her friend, who used to work for child services. What she told us she was told does not totally make sense to me, so if any of you have any experience or advice, please help!

As stated in my other post, FSD is supposed to come live with us in June, and FDH is supposed to go to court for full custody prior to her moving here. FMIL told us tonight that she is putting in a change of address for FSD to our address effective in June, and FSD will move here, but sole custody will remain with her (MIL). She said that as long as she has custody, MGM can not get visitation because FMIL controls who can and can not see FSD. She stated that she would have FDH named as allowed to take her to the doctor and that sort of stuff, but I wouldn't be able to do anything for or with FSD. She also said that I could never adopt FSD b/c that would also enable MGM to get visitation, and I would be robbing her of her $200/mth social security.

I am a little concerned b/c if you read my other post, you can see how controlling FMIL is, especially when it comes to FSD. I am concerned about having FSD living here, but we pretty much have no say in anything b/c sole custody remains with FMIL.

I was under the impression that no matter who has custody, MGM has the option to petition for custody, and it is up to the courts to decide whether or not she gets it.

Am I wrong?
