Congrats on your lovely new home. You made some wonderful purchases. I like the barstool arrangement in the first photo. The lamp is cute, but I think the scale of it isn't quite right for that table - it's too small. I'm sure you could find another place for it in the house.

Wow, those stools are perfect, I like them together, better for conversation and it makes the space seem more open to me anyways. In regards to the lamp and table, I like them each separately, but don't know if they work together. You may need a more substantial lamp if your only going to have one. Try putting some other accessories on the table though and see if that doesn't help to balance it out. Maybe if you had a nice plant with a little height to it or something.

yeah, I think we have ruled that lamp out - too bad I can't magically find its twin to make a pair. oh well, it was free anyway!

From a practical standpoint, having the stools right next to each other would make it very cramped for eating and conversation. If you were sitting that close to someone, you really wouldn't even be able to look at them while you were talking as you'd literally be in their face.

You made a great score, karenn, and those are unique and graceful stools that add charm to your counter area. I like them together, and, spaced just a bit further apart, think you'll have plenty of room for two people to sit and enjoy the view into the kitchen.

Nice table, too, though the lamp does look small. But it was free, right? I'm sure you can find a home for it somewhere in your lovely new home.

Karen you have a nice home and stools look great. I don't know what it is but I love to sit at someone's bar especially on a comfortable stool.

A mirror would look great above your console table.

Your room looks nice and bright, as though you have a lot of natural light. I just wanted to say I love those little windows under the cabinets in the kitchen. Are they solid or do they open. Can't wait to see more pics of the house as you fill it up.

nates: we dont have any window treatments up in the house yet, thats why its so bright LOL! plus, we are in Arizona :)

nope, those little windows do not open. I think its an AZ thing - its pretty common here for builders to put these in. I want to do something cool with them though! think I might try and find iron scrolls to put in them.

I prefer the stools as in the second pix, but pull the one to the left over a bit more. Then put a floor plant in front of the left section of the bar area, to cover up the big blank space, and the two stools together won't seem odd.

The little lamp is cute, but as others have said, too small for the table. Try it on your kitchen bar area, down at the right end by the wall. It will create a nice soft light for that area when you are not in the kitchen with the overheads on.

As part of a group of things above the table the lamp would work nicely. One fast way to double the size of a lamp is to hang a mirror behind it.

All by it's little lonesome ... it's unbalanced.

I like the stools together. I think the lamp is just a bit too small for the table.

I like the stools in the second picture. They look much better placed together. Of course if there isn't much room to sit there and eat you could always slide it over.
