You're welcome! For me, it was worth the extra expense to get an authentic looking and quality iron bed. I bought my DS a Wesley Allen bed before I found Charles P and it looks nice, it's a good bed, but it's very lightweight compared to this daybed and my DD2's antique iron bed. Charles P has free shipping right now and I might be mistaken but I don't think I was charged tax, since they're back east. I did wait a few weeks extra b/c I ordered it in a non-standard finish so they made one just for me, but it wasn't a long wait. Another option is Loading Dock Antiques where I bought my DD2's antique iron bed, but they don't usually have many daybeds. You can get a custom finish though if you decide to use a twin. They sandblasted mine to get the old paint off and repainted in a chippy, glazed antique white finish. It's a mom and pop shop (literally), and the wife would call me and send photos during the finishing process. Since it's an antique, it's a few inches wider than a standard twin, but it was easy and inexpensive to order a custom-size bunkie board from a local mattress manufacturer. Thanks so much for the kind words! It's nice to get nice comments from people outside of my family (who are obligated to say nice things). I'll try to post photos from our better camera later. On top of the hill is a red barn and silo. On the hill are some hay bales. I knew that I wanted to do a farm landscape bc that's the landscape in our area. The sky was the trickiest part, in terms of getitng it to look somewhat realistic; so, I watched a couple fo YouTube videos of "how to paint a sky." I actually re-painted the sky a couple of times to make it look right. Who knew that something that simple looking would be so challenging to paint? Before I tackled the huge painting I did a tiny (8x10) loose mock up, just to make sure that I wouldn't waste my time doing a huge version if the small one looked like hell. The small one looked ok; so, then I did the big one. It was definitely more challenging doing it on a huge scale bc when you blow things up, the lack of detail in the painting is more obvious. Anyway, the whole thing was a learning process bc as I painted and made mistakes, I figured out what didn't work and what worked better. I definitely had moments of frustration while painting it bc things just didn't look right, but I think I eventually fixed them to a point where it looked better. I found myself saying to myself several times during the process, "Why do I think that I can do this?!?" At the end of it though, I am really pleased with how it turned out. Anyway, if you are contemplating anything that seems kind of daunting, I have found that in general, if you break it up into little manageable parts, you can usually accomplish it to a passable degree. The worst that could happen is that the project fails, but in the grand scheme of life, that's not so bad. And on the flip side, you might suprise yourself!

I love mission furniture, but hadn't made the connection. Now I know why I was drawn to the footstool. Jasdip, my furniture improvement efforts have been spotty at best--but I keep trying! Gail, you are doing a wonderful job on your projects. I sometimes forget to come over here and look in the gallery. I did a couple of chairs some time ago, one was a dainty antique chair with the caning messed up. So I made it into a plant chair for my front porch. Always got nice compliments on it but haven't done another one. You said your husband always sees you with your paint brush in hand. Mine too. I have gone to bed with brushes in my hair (a habit of sticking one where ever it will hold). My husband says when I die he will stick a few brushes in the casket with me, I told him that would be great, just add a few bottles of paint and I will leave a happy woman. It is now included in my funeral plans, for real!! I can't imagine going any place with out my paints and brushes - you never know when you might need them.
