screen names

there is an interesting post on the kitchen and bath forum regarding screen names and what they mean. How did you come up with yours? I realize that this is a stepfamily forum and maybe not the place. Anyone game?

Mine was pretty easy. I live in Michigan and I am a stepmom. No real creativity here.

Interesting topic, thanks for posing.

MaryAnn, I really think that Twinkie came up with Jammer originally. I don't remember a whole lot about that weekend, other than that and JustGalore getting named. rofl (Actually, I do- it was a blast with you guys here.) I get this nicknaming thing from my mother, she's the master of it. And we named my dad "Cap'n Quirk" because he's the man of a million quirks. lol We also call him "Popsomatic". And Mummy is "the Mumster". Gabby nicknamed Woody for him, she said he reminded her of Woody Harrelson. His nephew calls him Uncle Patch, because he reminds HIM of Robin Williams. Poor Woody, he doesn't like either of those actors. *eg*

What does your screen name mean?

When I first got an e-mail account I wanted my name to be part of a rose, since I'm a major rose nut. The only rosy word I could find was petaloid, which is a partially formed petal often found in the center of a rose bloom. I used the same name here on GW. Minnie, a rose hybridizer has a secretary named Gladys and he named a rose variety he bred after her, "Happy Butt" -- you should get one! I'll put a link below: Here is a link that might be useful: rose named Happy Butt

Did you have a different screen name pre-Houzz?

Once when I was replying to one of plllog's posts, I tried to check the correct spelling by copying the name to Microsoft Publisher. Unfortunately, many things that are copied and pasted from the forums transfer as code, so it didn't help. Now I know; hope I remember! I'm still going by the same name, but didn't begin posting in the KT forums portion of GW until after the Houzz transfer anyway. A gyrfalcon is a bird, but I have long gone by simply Gyr too, so split the word out as a first and last name format long ago in previous forums. Many people type Gry instead of Gyr, but I am used to it and it doesn't bother me. My hair is turning gray IRL anyway. ;-)

HOW do I sign in with my current screen name!

I lost all my saved passwords after a malwarebytes and ccleaner binge yesterday. Now I can't get into gardenweb without my OLD username and password. The sign in page comes up with that combo. Why is it like that? Why isn't my sign in page with my current user name? I was not able to change it and went round and round at the houzz site and had to go to my email trash to get to gardenweb forums. What a pain!

"Lea" is just a variation of my first name, Carolee. The date August 8 is a significant one- it's the date my hubby and I started our business last year.

When I first started posting here, I wanted to use my real name, but someone else already had "Carolee." Then I used "ladylawyer" for a while, I thought it was kind of cute myself, but my husband's ex recognized me and had a fit over it. I changed it because I wanted to keep posting here but really didn't want her monitoring my every post.

I found out last night it isn't working - my SS's mom started screaming at my hubby last night when he dropped his son over some of the stuff I post here.

If there are people "lurking" on this site that don't want to hear my opinion on certain events in my life, then don't read my posts. What's so hard about that?

I have a pond and that's when I got started here. I also ponder all I read, so there you go.
