DeeMarie, I thought there was another Mets fan on here, but I couldn't remember who it was! Long-suffering about sums it up, doesn't it. Not the best off-season so far! I was hoping more would be done to assure there would not be a repeat of last season. LOL

I have a old fashioned pump near my back door. A garden hose attached to faucet near that is usually leaking since I never seem to get it tightened. In the summer I had a little toad that would set in the water puddles. I knew no one else would have a screen name like that so that is why I am Pump_toad.

I was eating a bowl of cherries (I had been eating them all week) the night Paul got my Webtv signed onto the internet. I had him type in Alzheimer's and we found the Care Giving Forum here at THS and I needed a name so that I could post even though I didn't post until the fall. I lurked a long time and I remember my first post at the Caregivers Forum and at the Cooking Forum. My brother registered here at THS before I did so that he could post on the Antique/Collectables Forum - he was Paulh.

I also love red cream soda so that is where the fizz came in.

I think Nikki NJ once made me a Cherryfizz gif - but I have long since lost the html code.

When I joined the GW many years ago, I was working and hated my job, hence "wantoretire" - then I did retire nearly 3 years ago, so "wantoretire-did".

I live in Upstate NY. Yes, it would be great if we knew where everyone lives.

Well, a long time ago back when we used to have to pay, a friend was trying to get me to sign up to post on the GardenWeb and we had to come up with a name. I suggested Betsy since that's my name. Oh, no, she said - you want to remain anonymous so let's think of something else. We drank a little wine and wrote down lots and lots of different screen names but didn't really like any of them. So she suggested our state (Montana) and my very best dog (Tonka - who has since gone to the bridge). That didn't work because it was too long. So it ended up getting shortened to Tanna Tonk. I've often thought about changing it but I guess there's not really any point.

When I was a really little girl Happy Bottom bothered me a lot; one of the brothers of a boy I played with (he lived next door) worked in the local A&P as a stock boy Invariably when I went to the store for my mom he'd taunt me with it!!
I didn't mind later on as much. I've even had banking clients call me that and ask for me by that name. haha

Actually, I tried several names and all were taken so out of desperation, I had to think of something else that no one would have. My DH was walking thru the room at the time and his nickname is scissors because he works at a hospital as an EMT. They nicknamed him Scissors because he is usally the only one that carries it at all times. I figured I'd remember that name for me.

Because "A love of life begins in the garden" and it describes me to a tee. My given name is Kathy and I'm known as 'the fun one' at work.

Well Minnie, at least you weren't called Hiccup Bottom like I was. I hated that! Eventually it changed to Higgy or Higgybee. I'm still called Higgy by my childhood friends and so are my brothers.

When I first came to the board all the dog related usernames were taken. I started brainstorming and started thinking of past nicknames ( can't use them for privacy reasons) and other things about myself.

Then I remembered that when I was a sweet young thang I used to go to a certain tavern. I was well underage at the time and one "old" (lol) guy used to always greet with "so what's the deal, Wild Child?". Seemed pretty good for an online handle so her I am.

I was first married in 1970, and my married name was Lindsey. When I met my current hubs, I was working for his best friend (hubs and his friend are attorneys). I was no longer married, but had kept the last name. Hubs and his friend (my boss) always referred to each other by a variation of their last names. From the get-go they would refer to me by my last name. Hubs and I started dating, then it got serious, then we bought a house together, became engaged, and got married. Before we married, hubs asked me, "will I still be able to call you Lindsey after we're married?" -- and I said it was ok by me, because I like the name Lindsey, and many of my friends also called me by that name. Since 1981 hubs has always called me Lindsey. My legal name is on my credit cards and driver's license, but if I have to write my name on anything I will write Lindsey unless it's a legal signature that's needed. And we live in California.

My screen name always used to show up as Lindsey_CA until iVillage (or should I write ivillage) bought the GardenWeb and no longer honored uppercase letters, and I became lindsey_ca.

Several years ago I was looking for a new screen name (not just for GW forums) and coincidently found one of those square "word a day" desk calendars in my computer desk drawer. I started going through it and found "uxorial" on the page for March 5. It's an adjective meaning "of, relating to, or characteristic of a wife." I thought it was appropriate for me. One good thing about using "uxorial" is that if you Google it, you just get dictionary listings, not a list of all my posts (like you get if you google many user names).

Other words I considered:
"widdershins"--in a left-handed, wrong, or contrary direction
"daedal"--skillful, artistic; intricate; adorned with many things
"rantipole"--characterized by a wild unruly manner or attitude; rakish

There was a time in my life when "rantipole" would have been more appropriate as my screen name. Guess I've settled down!

I'm new to KT -- been on the garden side for at least 7 yrs. Maga (pronounded MAA-guh) is what my beloved step-mom's youngest GK named her when the baby was about 18 mos. and learning to talk. A few mos. later, I became a grandmother. To Drew. After I became Drew's Maga, I joined the GW before next GK was born in '00. I'm now also Anna's, Lauren's, and Zach's "Maga."

Back when I was married to my first husband, our name was Fields. I thought if we had a little girl, I would name her Summer. We never had that little girl, but I decided I would get some use out of the name anyway. Oh, and I'm from TX.

When I first got an e-mail account I wanted my name to be part of a rose, since I'm a major rose nut. The only rosy word I could find was petaloid, which is a partially formed petal often found in the center of a rose bloom. I used the same name here on GW.

Minnie, a rose hybridizer has a secretary named Gladys and he named a rose variety he bred after her, "Happy Butt" -- you should get one! I'll put a link below:
