Well, I just have to resurrect this post... My screen name was forgotten, so when I rejoined, I used my married initials, first, middle and last name. I'd like to switch to my maiden/current initials, jclepine, but I figure it really isn't that big of a deal. Am I being a smarty-pants if I say that I know what meershaum means? Even if I can't spell it? When I was little I was very in to reference materials (nerd!) and looked everything up at the library. Sea Foam Green was my favourite crayon colour, so I looked that up until I figured out the connection to the pipes. I couldn't figure out, though, how they made a pipe out of sea foam!! Oh, and I was sure it was Dig It, not Digit...oh well!! I sure enjoyed reading these... Jennifer Camille

Thanks everyone for the input. I sprayed them both with Murphys Oil soap diluted with water - hope that was the right thing to do. My county extension service said the treatment for mites was to spray with "horticultural soap," which I could buy at Lowe's or make my own. So I used Murphy's since I had read about others' using it. I have nothing to lose since they are quickly on their way out. I thought mites was a problem that the west coast/dry climates had to deal with and that it was not an issue in an extremely humid environment! Well, we'll see what happens. If I can salvage just one of them I will be happy. Oh, I think I could see the tiniest of specks on the undersides of leaves which came off when sprayed. If they were mites, they were really hard to see (didn't have a strong magnifying glass). And I see webs all the time, but thought thay was just spiders since they're everywhere. (I still wonder if there will be a worm in the tomato when I cut it open!) :-)

Jerzeygal, I can't answer your question because, believe it or not --- I don't work for Garden State Soapstone and never have!!! lol. (Frankly, there's a whole lot more I've been squirming to say about all this, but I've also promised myself to refrain from getting into a silly internet forum shoot-out for no good reason.) My suggestion to anyone who thinks they may have an interest in Original PA/Green Mountain Original PA is to work with whatever reasonable, trustworthy, competent and experienced supplier of the stone they can find. In my case, the supplier/fabricator nearest to me, and who also fit that bill was Jay Tauber at Garden State Soapstone. (And, in typical GW fashion, I've chosen to recommend a good vendor experience/product to others.) I must say that I've also heard especially good things about Bucks County Soapstone as well. HTH
