I guess you are almost a pro, you would notice if the roots were gone. That is really odd for a rose to do. I purchased 3 SDLM at a nursery this year for an idea I have for the back. All of a sudden this one rose has a set of canes that are really really long. I called the nursery thinking that someone made a mistake, and of course he said he would replace it. He said that it was not likely that the climber would be mixed with it because it is grown in a different greenhouse. He said I may have a sport, or just a long rose. Regardless of what it is, he wants to replace it. I will not ask that of him since it is healthy. He said that they put 2-3 little plants together, so that when they grow and bloom they will look large sooner. (I have noticed that.)Either one of the three is a climber, or it is a sport. The rose has some normal length canes, and I cannot tell yet if it is a separte rose or not. I could just let it grow as a large rose, change the shape of the bed, and put another SDLM in the bed. I wonder what it would look like as a bush. Sammy

lol silver, You just reminded me of my ex calling me just after DH & I got married. (no, he is not on my FB) His daughter found my daughter and called her. My daughter told his daughter that I had gotten married so he decided to call me.... the first words outta his mouth... "So, you got married & didn't wait for me?" I LAUGHED! I thought he was kidding around... I mean he has been married for 18 years and I haven't seen him in 19. Why would I wait? Right? So, I joked back (my husband was standing right there cooking dinner with me)... and then he asked me if I was happy in my marriage and told me how jealous his wife is of me because she feels threatened by me. Ummm, gotta go dude! I told him that I am very happy and sorry to hear he is not, then got off the phone. When I told my DH, he thought it was funny... of course he knows I am not interested and he trusts me. Funny thing is, about a month later my ex's wife called me. She wanted to talk to me about arranging for my daughter to meet their family. She was very nice and told me that she has been trying for YEARS to get her husband to call and/or see my daughter... told me that she was raised without a father and knows what it's like... etc. In no way did she seem jealous, threatened or insecure about me. I think her husband was playing a game to see if he can get his wife & ex to fight over him... I think some guys enjoy that attention. Sadly, it didn't work out for him and he has not seen my daughter still. That was three years ago. (I do have his wife on my myspace though...)

Isn't it pretty wood? I do get to peek at CL fairly often as I work from home. Long hours, and lots of conference calls, so when I get a quick break, I'll see what's new on CL. I put this chair on my picnic table/project bench yesterday after work and stripped the seat off carefully, along with hundreds of nails, tacks, you name it. I left the black cloth covering the bottom, the burlap webbing, and the springs tied to it. What I removed, I put in a plastic bag to preserve so I can go back to it for reference when I re-do the seat. I couldn't resist going over a few more parts with a bit of RAF and I see some beautiful grain to the wood. Some is quarter sawn, and some may be tiger oak. I need to show it to a neighbor of my mother's who is a cabinet maker to get the scoop. To see the wood revealed by the RAF is a wonderful sight. I will so enjoy fixing this up!

Red, you are welcome any time! I suppose I should post some pics. Most of them look like a Tyvek box sitting in mud. Really compelling. Love the 60' desk story. Me thinks the seller's "correctness" may have been testosterone-driven. Teeda, no place or situation is ever perfect. The scene up there is complicated and there certainly are issues. Ultimately, for our stage of life, we decided a new, well-built house was the way to go. The newer homes are way out and the ones in town, where we really want to be, are very old and require dedicated maintenance. Or if they have been renovated already, they're very expensive. But you know that. :-) I checked out the Hartford CL...boy are you right! It's like a treasure trove compared to up here. It feels like a little far to drive for a look-see. But maybe I'll figure out other things to do down that way and I'll be able to justify the drive. I recently figured out there is a Home Goods and Tuesday AM down the way (had been driving to Dalton for HG once a summer!!). Not that I really need anything there, but it is fun to look. I'll probably end up saving a lot of $$$ without as much shopping as I'm used to! Val, you are right about this sofa being overpriced. That was really my thought, too. Especially when I saw it. Too bad about the Karastan. Just tell yourself it was probably smelly! ;-)
