Need help negotiating through Step-family waters!

My fiance's parents have been divorced for over 20 years. His Mom and Dad get along just fine, but his father's girlfriend (of over 20 years) and the Mom do not get along at all. In fact, my fiance's sister does not like the girlfriend either. How do I keep the peace during and before the wedding? How should I arrange seating and showers? His Dad is contributing some money, including paying for the rehersal dinner. His girlfriend will be invited. However, I want my fiance's Mother to feel special and that she has an important place and role at the wedding. We will have a head table. I thought that we could have my parents and his parents there, but it doesn't look like that will work out. There is only room for 10 people...what should I do?
